Looking to buy a house and keep finding a bunch of houses that we like over in that area. Is the crime bad over there? The google street views make the neighborhoods look decent but Ive also heard the crime in some parts is bad. I dont want to move my family over into a dangerous area and havent had much luck finding statistics that break the crime rates down in travis county to certain areas. Driving through gives you a little idea of the place but totally different than actually living in the area. Also looking down towards Kyle and Buda but havent found anything that really has grabbed our eye for the price. Thanks

Del Valle isn't considered one of the nicer parts of town, for sure. It's also home of the Travis County Jail. I would encourage you to keep searching in the Buda/Kyle area. I moved from Austin to Buda in 2005 and just recently purchased another house in Kyle. I feel like both towns give you that small-town feel yet are just minutes from Austin. There are some areas north of Austin that give the same feel and keep your taxes/home prices reasonable too.

Yeah, I dont get the warm and fuzzy feeling from that area but we found a really nice house for a damn good price. No living north, I hate it up north. We're still looking, just ready to get into something and be done with it.
