what would you do?
Long story short. Totalled my car, aold the motor and trans to a buddy of mine. He's paid for the trans. Well found out the block wasn't a ls1, but a 5.3 block(not much of a difference.) Well he was going to drop the motor into a nissan 240. Now he's debating. He hasn't really contacted me much about it, so I told him today I would come by to pick it up. Am I wrong for that?

Not at all. If he hasn't paid, then it's still your motor. btw... LS1 is aluminum and 5.3 is iron block. 60-80 lb weight difference. Is it the forged 347 in your sig? If not What car was it removed from?

He didn't know about it and neither did I until he took a closer look. He said he hasn't made up his mind but I'm tired of waiting. I do need to change my sig lol.
SShawk-he hasn't paid for the motor, just the trans

There is an aluminum 5.3 that turbo guys have been using lately. They come in the 07 and up Silverado's and newer Impala SS's. I believe it's classified as an LM4. I had one in my old Camaro and with 317 heads and an LS6 cam, I was terrorizing the bolt on LS1 guys.

Not all 07+ 5.3s were aluminum though correct? I got one from an 09 model and its an iron block.

No, not all. What I meant was they started in 07 with the aluminum blocks in the trucks.
The appeal to the turbo guys is that it's thicker between the cylinders, nearly the same cubic inches (around 331ish instead of 346), and just as light as the LS1's.
