If the IRS ever comes sniffing around, just point them to this thread. You have the LS1Tech's confirmation of marriage seal of approval status dealy. That would hold up in any audit.

FYI- You may file your taxes as married, Texas common law is ridiculous (6 months of living together and your done). HOWEVER***** Be aware that in the future to file them Single; you must get a divorce. So once you start filing it as a married filing joint; you will have to maintain. My wife and I did this before we got married and I got another $6200 back on my taxes.... she had all the write-offs and I had been raped by Uncle Sam... so yea, make the right decision .

You do know what you claim on your W4 means nothing right.... I have claimed married and 9 for 10 years and never a issue.

You must live together longer than 6 months AND consider yourselves married in public.
...such as introducing yourselves as husband and wife, claiming your taxes together, etc...
