crank sesnser! Have a 96 lt1 camaro just rebuilt motor and put it all back together again the crank senser will not go out win u delete it comes back on so does thats mean its bad but car runs great just curious if I replace it should go off rite!!

I just rebuilt motor in my car 383, I put it all back together and put motor bs k in my camaro!! Well the ses lite keeps coming on and I hooked my computer up to it, and it said crank shaft senser I deleted it!! So I try it again deleted the code came back on, but the car is running fine so why would it trip the ses lite is the senser bad if I put new crank senser on car will the lite go out just makes no since to me so bout the mumble jumble **** work at a fast pace job so had to type that on my fone!
What code number are you getting when you scan it? Just deleting it won't fix the underlying problem. It could be as easy as a defective sensor, but it could be more serious and have to do with re-assembly or parts involved in the re-build.

Win I get home ill check the code again but what's that senser read off of my mechanic says that reads the timeing and tells,the car how much fuel to dump in car between the crank senser and and cam senser but I don't think there is a cam senser is there!!!

The crank sensor simply tells the computer where in the combustion cycle(s) the crankshaft is. Fueling is more dependent on the other sensors like MAF, MAP, O2 sensors, etc (depending on year model since not all LT1 cars had MAF systems).
