Hey Guys im new,can anyone help me out here pls. I tested 2 years ago and passed the test, i was among the 50 candidates that was called for interview last february for machinist position at baytown, but i wasnt selected for the final interview.
Whats my chances of getting another interview, and since i already had my first interview will that be an advantage for me?, any heads up will be appreciated.

Tremy... I went through that same thing with the BP apprenticeship. I sent my resume, got called to test, passed the test and got called for interview and got cut at the interview. They only hired 3 people of the 40-50 they interviewed. I went back to work and shortly after decided to go back to school.

they interviewed but got called at a later time to start the interview
process again, and got hired. I've even heard of people interviewing at one location, say the refinery, not getting hired, then interviewing again at a different facility, say chem plant, and getting hired.
I can't say what kind of percentage chance you have, or if you are at an advantage or not, but you still have a shot.
Additionally, they keep you on file for 4 years. They called my brother at about 3yrs 9months. So, you're not out yet. Keep your information current on the website and make sure your resume is up to date.

Anyone get any calls yet for an interview? I took the test on August 6 and wasn't sure how long it takes for calls to go out. I applied for just about any available position Exxon had in Texas. I met the minimum qualifications on the test apparently. I was under the assumption that you get an actual score but I guess not. I've also got an application in at Lyondell and a couple other places. I don't have a degree in any related field but do have a Master's in Criminal Justice and about 10 years experience as a mechanic. I'm just tired of turning wrenches and there just isn't much out there in criminal justice right now unless you want to be a patrol cop for 30k a year. So here's to hoping something comes up soon!

What position are you testing for? The test is pretty basic for Exxon. Its pretty much verbal reasoning, math, and mechanical aptitude. The only problem was the amount of time given per section. Just take a deep breath and don't get excited or anxious. Exxon has a good study guide on their website, but I believe you have to be signed up to take the test to view it. If you go to www.tva.gov/employment/ops_maintain/testing.htm that website has a pretty good study guide for similar type tests if you are interested.

I heard only 8 percent make it for those asking earlier. I figure being young and just starting college is a plus for me, allows them to mold me into whatever they want. My friend is in the same position as I am and is already on the second step of the process.

Be ready at any time. They will call you out of the blue at any time. Took 5 months and I was on my way for a job interview at Shell when they called. The process is strange and unlike anything else I have ever experienced, very impersonal if you ask me.
By the way... Took my wheels to Precision Coatings the other day after seeing your thread a while back. Hope to get them back Friday.
