HUGE Connecting Rods from 855ci (14Liter) Cummins Tractor Engine -- Novelty
Each rod weighs 9lbs, and measure 5 inches x 17 inches.

These connecting rods came from an 855ci diesel engine. My father purchased some junk from a government auction site, and these came with the package.

I sandblasted and painted these Valspar Aluminum (+ clear-coated). They look great and may make great use as a trophy or just to hang on the garage wall. The pictures do not show how well they look.

Cool thing for the garage wall!

$25 each. OR... $100 for 5 of them (I have 10 total).

I joined today as I haven't frequented this site in a LONG time...

Something about me:

Born and raised in Austin, 35 years old, Network Engineer. I have 3 cars:

1996 BMW 328is "lightweight" (2640 lbs currently, runs a high 13-sec 1/4mile)
1966 Corvette Convertible with the 327/350hp L-79 (Nassau Blue)
1987 Porsche 944 Turbo; heavily modded currently, but I have plans for an LS2 or LS3 (if the price is right).

Since I frequent the BMW sites the most, here is my profile:

MORE PICS OF THE RODS: I like the Dos XX bottle the best. $25 each or $20 each for 2+

I'd like to hear more about the "heavily modded" 951.

You on any of the P-car sites?

Heh, well I purchased the car from a friend would let it sit for 9 years (he went Corvette C6). He put 40k into the car in 5 years. Interested in any parts from it? Since I am planning to go LS2/LS3, I won't need the 2.5L turbo, tranny, exhaust, etc..

ALL --- On the Cummins 855ci (14liter) connecting rods, I still have 8 of these.

Probably not, mine is all set at the moment.

What were your performance mods?

And where in Austin are you located? I'd love to swing by when I'm back in town in August to see the LS conversion.

Let's see, Porsche mods are...

Engine/Tranny
1.1bar boost (stock turbo)
Boost enhancer (stays @ 1.1bar through the entire rev-range)
Powerhaus extruded intake manifold
Autothority HFM MAF (Its a GM LS1 MAF, with Split Second SAFC)
Autothority Stage 2 chips (1 for the Motronic DME, 1 for the KLR DME)
Aftermarket rising rate FPR
Test pipe (I have the OEM cat as well)
ARP head studs & fire-ring head gasket
Turbo S transmission and spare Turbo transmission (Turbo S has LSD)
Aftermarket intercooler (only a "stage 1")

Suspension
Coilovers (250lbs/in), the rear torsion bars have been matched for height
Koni adjustables
Huntley adjustable camber plates
Weitmeister strut-tower bar

Its wearing Turbo S wheels right now, but I also have the OEM "phone-dial" wheels.

As for the LSx engine, the swap won't be till late this year. Money and time constraints.

As for the Connecting Rods, they're going fast. I only have 1 unaccounted for, hurry if you want it.

Chris

Attached pic is the Porsche, but from my crappy Blackberry phone cam.

All - I found 1 more rod in my garage. I sandblasted, painted and clear-coated it like the others. Check the first post to see the size.

$25 for it. BUY SOME GARAGE ART!
