Nope, being bilingual will actually help you if you can speak Spanish in the academy for the Spanish language portion of training.

I used to refuse to want to learn Spanish when I was a kid, but as a adult, it is kind of dumb not to know it since it is second language here in Texas.

Too bad the agents aren't allowed to actually STOP anyone from entering our country illegally!

border patrol is a joke.

20% of BP Agents take their jobs seriously - most just do it for the paycheck.

odds are you'll have to move your family (if you have one), to some high risk, shitbird infested town like Laredo or Brownsville or El Paso......

pay is definitely not worth it.....

Definitely an opinion if I've ever seen one. Are you a PA, were you a PA? The topic of this thread is to advise people that hiring had re-opened. No need to come in here and bad mouth the patrol or give your two cents. Go to honorfirst.com and bitch an moan all you want over there.

Pay is ****? Really...gs7 makes pretty good money...gs5 is manageable. Some can make over 100k after 3 years if you are smart.

And that choice to.move is yours. My brother inlaw passed up on CBP when Dallas wasn't an option, and only the south west border was.

i got arrested for drag racing, which i was told was a felony. the officer then decided to give me a break and write me a ticket. but the arrest is still on record. do you think this will possibly ruin my chances?

Naw, don't think so. I had drag racing tickets in my history.

If you don't have have an associates, or prior law enforcement background, the you'll start off as a GS-5. The academy is 12 weeks long. Once you graduate you automatically become a GS-9. Every year after your pay raise anniversary you get another pay raise, GS-11, then GS-12. After you receive your GS-12, you go up in step increments. But yea, you can say the pay is "good". I perfer to have fun being a glorified bounty hunter and catching criminal aliens on a daily basis.

Why would you need to go to the border for that? Simply pull up to any Home Depot in Houston area and yell trabajo! You could fill up the back of the truck immediately and not even have to chase them!

thanks for proving my point.

the pay is not worth it - i wouldn't move to Laredo or Brownsville for $100K.

those places are dangerous and they're shitholes.

i don't want kids going to school in some border town.........
