being from Louisiana i still don't see why you would vacation there other than for mardi gras. since the storm its been horrible, kind of seems like people gave up in certain areas. i go back to see family a friends and even then i can only stand it a few days at a time.

I work out of Harvey, LA which is on the West Bank of New Orleans. All the tourist areas are fine, the city Polices it pretty heavily so tourist money keeps coming in. Out side of that, I hope no storms come through again, it took them long enough to fix all the damn speed limit signs headed down to Venice and Fourchon.

Default New Orleans

Thanks Tx Firehawk, I am from the N.O. and also have a 2000 Firehawk, good to hear someone from Texas complimenting New Orleans, it is just like any other city, watch where you go and you will be alright. Most of the guys that talk bad about New Orleans are just scarred to go, I advise these haters with big mouths not to go because your mouth will get you in trouble. We like to party but don't take no BS!!!!

I work off Peters Rd near Boom Town. The only time I am on the Westbank is to go to meetings or on my way home from a rig

As mentioned above, the tourist parts (parts of Uptown and the Quarter) were mostly untouched. I talked to guests back home (Gulfport) and here and most still think New Orleans is still the same as it was on 8/29/05. It was a mess, but shy of a few restaurants and music venues in Treme, there wasnt a lot of touristy things to see anyway.

The media did a good job ruining any chance of it becoming a good place to visit. Those that are visiting again know better.
