Default trans cooler question/ what issues

what issues you are you having with running high temps with engine and the ac running.
i have a 4000 stall
i have a freaking gigantic cooler which measures 13x11.5x1.75 its a freaking notebook and it takes up almost half of the condensor.

i am also leaving all of the air deflector plastic stuff in place just to make sure the condenser and radiator can get all the air flow.
i am just concerned that the big trans cooler may take up too much space and cause some other cooling issues in this Texas heat.
thanks
Ed

You could always put a E fan on it and located it some other place in the engine bay.

You could mount it up dope style rather than over your condenser/radiator. Lots of info on mounting it dope style on here.

no i am more concerned about the folks here in texas,i figured they would have a better clue. especially with the heat we encounter. most of the responses that i see are folks up north or some where in-between.
i will figure it out thanks

I don't have a trans cooler but I am using an oil cooler which I imagine has a higher heat load than the transmission, BUT I had to move it from in front of the condenser. That extra heat load was raising my IAT's too high and when at a stop, the AC wouldn't even blow cold.

I now have it mounted horizontally between the radiator support and a piece of angle running between the sway bar mounts with a 10" pusher on the bottom side. The cooler is 8" x 10" x 2" Mocal unit. With the cooler moved, it definitely receives a lot less cool air and when in stop and go traffic (rare), the head load from the radiator and engine bay just completely overwhelm the system and the temps rise up to the point where it was without a cooler at all.

I bought an LT1 radiator which I plan on installing either tonight or tomorrow and may move the oil cooler back in front of the condenser.

I mounted my trans and engine oil cooler in the nose cone. Removed the foam from the metal bumper, punched holes in the metal and made brackets. The holes allow air flow through it. The trans cooler is directly behind the nose cone hole it doesn't need a fan. The oil cooler has a fan because i didn't mount it behind the hole. I will move someday. You do have to trim some plastic because the hole is like a duct and goes into the rad area.

Mine is mounted in front of the condenser and I do not have any issues at all. I took some narrow stips of metal and screwed the cooler to those, then screwed the strips of metal to the radiator support, this way the trans cooler does not transfer heat to the condenser or vice versa. It works out really well and it was really easy.

Bump for pics. My re-arranged setup, even in this nice 90*F weather, has the oil climbing to 210*F on the highway, at least 225*F in slower traffic, and up to 240*F in stop and go. That is as high as when I had no oil cooler at all! When I had it in front of the condenser (no contact with condenser but still transfers heat load BTW) I was around 185-190*F cruising and a max of 210*F in stop and go, even on the 110*F days.
