Good thread...I changed a starter on a buddies Z71 at an Exxon gas station. My favorite though...I bent a pushrod while on a 1st date. This happened in my old 94 GT, got the car to a buddies apt and pulled the upper gt-40 intake and the valve covers off to find the bent push rod. She was not very happy with me, needless to say, I did not get a 2nd date.

way back on labor day 2001, the super coupe club of america had their first SC nationals out in ok city, ok. On sunday on the way home, one of the guys in our 3 car caravan lost a crank sensor and his car stalled and coasted to a halt on the side of I-44 in BFE oklahoma. Being that it was sunday and a dealer only part, the chances of getting a replacement were slim however a guy in an SC caravan about 2 hrs behind us happened to be carrying a spare he always took with him even though he was riding in someone elses car, lol. so we sat on the side of the road in 95 degree heat for 2 hrs waiting, then he arrived and one of the other guys had the tools/knowledge to install it. this is not an easy part to replace. my own crank sensor went out some time later and it took us 3-4 days of finding tools and what not to remove some rather stuck bolts to get the damn thing off, anyway, it took them an hour or 2 to get the car repaired and then we were back underway but damn what a shitty breakdown. i was just thinking about this as it was the weekend before 9/11.
