New Home Build
contract was signed for $293k. Or $84.53 I have added a few misc things since contract so I will see. I don't think I will go over $296k
What upgrades did you do?
I did go back to the invetory home I built my plan from and found a few more changes I want to make. I guess it helps to see your house complete pretty much,
Also went in the attic and there is lots of space but it wasted. For some damn reason there is a huge box the built in the center to connect the roof to for support. I'm sure the framers can fix that issue and make that cleaner. Also there is attic space above the 2 car part of the garage but no access to get to it so I'm going to get them to add a attic ladder.
Add 1.5 story. Meda Room, Game Room, 1 closet, full bathroom
Shelf boxes built into the tile in all showers
Roll updoor on tandem part of garage
Extra 110 outlets
Extra cable connections
2 ft extension on Island
remove large window in Bed #2 replace with 3 picture windows
Estone in all bathrooms
Pocket doors on dinning room (did this for dual use room study/dinning)
Trash can pull out
Door to back yard on the tandem garage
add insulation to brick wall side of tandem garage
Carpet quality upgrade
Kitchen backsplash on a diagonal
Master bath tile on diagonal
Appliance upgrade.
220V 50amp plug in my man garage
Undercounter Lights
Hoping that's all for now rofl!!!!!!

That is when u meet the electrician on the job and have him do some side work for you. Upgrades are a rip off from a builder, so always better to go to the main source. I have done that and saved alot of money that way.
With the drop in price of all houses, I just always thought you could get a bigger home for dirt cheap right now. But I know nothing about this stuff, just see the prices of some incredible homes for cheap. So all my knowledge is based on that, which isn't much knowledge. Also, I don't think I can get half of what my house is worth if I were to sell now. It's paid off, so I am looking at buying a dirt cheap 40k perfect foreclosed rental home right now instead of a new home for me and hope all prices come back up.
I looked at buying used and people are crazy with what there asking now too.
Plus I liked the fact I could build how I wanted.
Also the only place you will find a place for $40k is in the hood.

Also any tips you might have for me to aid in the process would be appreciated. I am just about to start researching the process so if I pull the trigger before my 3-5 year time table and it comes to build I will be prepared.
I would use them before others like Threndmaker because Highland is always changing there design and materials to the lastest and greatest and every home is custom. Alot out there were cookie cutter boxes and I didn't want that.

Looks good so far...
