Since you are in Corpus, look up Strike Construction. They do most of our facility and pipeline construction. We typically move in before and after the rig guys building the facilities. I work for Talisman Energy as a chief inspector and know that they are looking to add more crews since we tell them to. They are now working 12 on and 2 off on a 12 hour per day schedule. The pay probably isn't great starting out but if you bust your *** they typically push up the leaders. Knowing Spanish out here is a plus.

By the way, if anyone has experience building these well facilities or lots of refinery experience, let me know. We are hiring 6 more inspectors immediately and need some good hands.

I also need to talk to someone who reps products in this area so if anyone here sells products to these companies, give me a shout.

Our part does the wellhead tie-ins to the separators and the load out tanks. Most of the Strike hands know how to swing a hammer and Righty tighty, lefty loosy. If you can read a measuring tape and can carry heavy objects, you will do well.

I can't elaborate on what the pipeline hands do more than stand around and watch welders and operators do their thing.

I've been surfing Rigzone.com past few days.

Appears the only available NOOB starting positions I could find where as follows:

Roustabout
Floorhand
Dispatcher
Wireline Operator
Well Tester
Customer Service Rep.

NOT available but NOOB:

Roughneck (That **** looks to seperate the men from the boys!)

Can someone confirm the below:

12 hr days
2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
$15/hr
Lots of overtime!

OR

12 hr. days * 14 days = 168 hrs.

So...

80 hrs. @ $15/hr = $1,200

AND

88 hrs. @ ($15 * 1.5) $22.50/hr = $1,980

Total: $3,180 / 2 weeks

$3,180 / 168 hrs. = Avg. $18.92/hr

Then 2 weeks off.

So $3,180/month or $31,860/yr before taxes?

Someone please tell me that they pay MORE than $15.00/hr starting?

I recall oil field guys with stay at home mom's, and always out buyin' new sports cars/lifted trucks with above avg. houses and tons of toys (guns, atv's,ect.)

Not on approximately $32k/yr. your not.

Intrigued by the numbers here...Please explain.

my gf's dad works up in ND, and he is $20hr and like $35 hr OT.. guaranteed OT but he works everyday cuz he chooses to.

Also thats IF they start you at $15 an hour.. i been hearing like around $17 hr plus OT.. and they pay for like lodging and ****.. idk they have benefits and stuff form what i hear. + bonuses

sucks that I would have to be starting off from the bottom of the barrel.. sa'll good tho if hard work pays off

Yeah thats what I was thinking they did.. I do the surveys on alot of the pipelines and we have to wait for them to finish welding and stuff before we stake out the weld points. I'm just trying to chase the paper lol would like to find something where I would have to earn my money rather than just 'stand around' I do that way too often surveying pipelines .. idk, it just doesnt feel right.. find it counter productive to head up in life, like sure its fine and dandy.. but i feel as if i won't be going anywhere

One thing I know, is that there is a HUGE turnover rate because people don't want to work (ie being lazy), rather than they are unable to preform their duties.

We had a huge turnover problem at Labatt when I was there. and this was delivering groceries to schools, DQ's, Military bases Lackland AFB was my favorite lots of pretty girls there , @ 750minimum pay per week. My checks were a constant 900-1200 dollars (thanks to the military and austin routes) I could imagine oil rig work.

You people that hold a job there have some huevos!

I would assume 32 grand would be a base salary, Personally I wouldn't go for that.
dont forget to deduct Rent, Hotel rooms (unless you plan to sleep with four other coworkers in one room then.... sounds like fun LOL ) Food! (remember supply and demand, lots of oil rigs are right at the middle of nowhere so you'd be lucky to find a mercantile who has a fifteen day old sandwich for sale at half price 15 dollars LOL)

Try getting your CDL I drive a Pump Truck (Kill Truck) its a real laid back job. We work 70 hours a week, lots of overtime. You might have to start off on a vacuum truck first but its worth it. Try Nabors Well Service or Key Energy they seem to be the better company that don't run you into the ground.

Without having some education or experience, you will definitely start at the bottom but in this industry you tend to move up quickly when you bust your *** and constantly try to better yourself.

True, it's really one of the last blue collar work places where if you work hard you can make it.

They were paying 15/hr 10 years ago when I broke out. Now 19 is the lowest I know of. Oh and Nabors sucks is why they lose so many hands. I've been on plenty of their rigs all over the country....all junk iron
