OR

12 hr. days * 14 days = 168 hrs.

So...

80 hrs. @ $15/hr = $1,200

AND

88 hrs. @ ($15 * 1.5) $22.50/hr = $1,980

Total: $3,180 / 2 weeks

$3,180 / 168 hrs. = Avg. $18.92/hr

Then 2 weeks off.

So $3,180/month or $31,860/yr before taxes?

Someone please tell me that they pay MORE than $15.00/hr starting?

I recall oil field guys with stay at home mom's, and always out buyin' new sports cars/lifted trucks with above avg. houses and tons of toys (guns, atv's,ect.)

Not on approximately $32k/yr. your not.

Intrigued by the numbers here...Please explain.
Your math is wrong unless you're accounting for something not listed. At $3,180 a month, you'll gross $38,160 a year. With bonuses you'd probably clear $40k gross. That's your worst case scenario. At $19/hr you'll be grossing $4,028 a month which comes to $48,336 gross per year before bonuses.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. I have been debating getting out of teaching and coaching to go into oil and gas. I have a masters degree but 0 experience in the industry. I work my *** off and would like to find a place that rewards hard work. Having zero experience hurts, but I am intelligent and determined. Its a new year and I am looking for a change. Any help would be appreciated.

Ya'll are all discussing lower level start out jobs . Yes the pay isn't great at first butt the time it takes to advance right now is short because of attrition. A floorhand today could be a derrickhand next week because of people not showing or other reasons . I have been in this game for 22 years and average 150-250k a year . I worked my way up from nothing through the rigs on up to being a Toolpusher as well as snubbing and coil operator. Currently i work as a fishing tool sup. in SW La. and SE Texas. The money is there to be made. You just need to come and get it.

Camaro....u don't want to teach. Frozen salary...principals....other teachers....it sucks. We will see, but to do the things the wife and I want to do....teaching/coaching isn't going to cut it.
