Here is the guy that bought my z06. He had it to a 1/8th on friday and ran a 6.54 @ 104 with a 1200 da. He plans to get it to a 1/4 should be a low 10 sec car. The fastest it went in the 1/8th when i had it was 6.76 with a 1.56 60ft.

It was the 630 package from lingenfelter. Drivability was not effected with the cam swap.

I have a head/cam/E85 C6Z with high compression and live in Katy as well if you want to see what all the fuss is about.

My C6Z has a Maggie and longtubes w/ cats. No other mods, 619 rwhp and similar torque. I've roll-raced a couple local C6Z's making similar power with heads/cam/bolt-ons and I usually put 1-2 car lengths on them. They do not have the instant hit or torque that my car makes, and I'm over 600 rwhp from 5800-7000 rpm. Very broad HP/TQ curves with the blower.

With the blower, you can safely make 650-700 rwhp on the stock engine, just don't get greedy and push it too far. Also factor in a new clutch swap if you decide on either combo, the stock one sucks at 550+ rwhp power levels.

What's the first part to give in a boosted LS7? Piston ringlands?

Would really depend if you want the aggressive nature for you and to show off with a h/c setup.
FI would drive like stock with the same power, if not a hair better, but would cost a little more.

Tony,

That may be the case for most other heads cam Z's, however you haven't had the opportunity to run our h/c/bolt on C6Z yet!!

Let's set something up my man!

Details on this car? Let me guess, high compression ratio race gas setup, big cam, custom intake, etc...

What if I build my LS7 and turn up the boost to make 800 rwhp? lol. My car is simple, maggie out of the box and headers.

Tony,
Did the Maggie required a new hood?

How much of a true bolt-on is that kit (Edelbrock E-Force) on the Zs? I seem to remember you having to do a little bit of fabrication during your maggie install. Just wondering.

Ported factory LS7 heads, stock block, hydraulic cam, FAST 102 with 102TB, 1 7/8" headers, CAI, 93 octane, good clutch. I got to drive this car before the mile. It was a blast (especially if you like rowdy and loud).

Trying to not hi/jack this thread s/c stang. Either route you choose can be totally streetable. Blowers are always fun due to the amount of instant torque in the low/mid rpm range however, I enjoy the bit of complexity in building a strong running agressive normally aspirated engine, that drives close to stock. LS7's have great power potential either way, wether it's S/C'd or N/A. It suppose it all depends on how you want your car to run/sound and perform.

Thanks Pat, nailed it on the head. Come on Tony, you'll probably end up pulling us on the big end anyway... maybe...

IMO :

Heads Cam - If proper choices are made in setup and who tunes the car.

Supercharger - Its hard to mess this up , you know what to expect out of the box.

Depends on what you are looking for. I had a hard time choosing as well.. but im glad my car is setup the way it is....and i would race a similarly setup supercharged only car any day of the week. .... how about friday Tony .. hehe

Blck and Hawk, what rwhp are both of your cars making? If you are over 640-650 rwhp NA, then you should have the edge over my docile combo. My setup isn't as fast as the boosted up Procharger Z06's out there pushing 700+ rwhp.

It went 179 on Saturday, about 3pm in that headwind. That was on 20s/Invos.

No 1/4 times on a good clutch. Clutch is fixed now. I'd like to run it at HRP on a cool night, I'd be looking for 10.5s and mid/low 130s to be honest.

I'm at 619 rwhp, no secrets here.

This is all in good fun. I think we would be a good match. I have less dyno Hp than you do... running on invos as well.

I will be at HRP on friday night ( should be in the 50's ) if you would like to run. I think it would be an interesting way to show the OP a heads up camparison of a well built stock bottom end ported heads /cam car Vs. a maggie / tuned car.

I did 161 in the half mile and 183 in the mile ( and had trouble getting into 5th due to that bump) ....ran later that day after you did.

Definitely would be a good race. Headed to a party Fri, wish I could go race. It might be a month before I find time to hit HRP.

Just kidding, this would be a pretty good race IMO. I've ridden in said H/C Z06 and it's no slouch. I'd really be interested to see it heads up against a S/C Z06.
