You either have to be in the military, a veteran, spouse, or child of a service member. I have my insurance through usaa, 177.80 a month full coverage for both my 02' t/a and 00' silverado.

hey since were on the topic of insurance. Does anyone know the general percentage decrease you get on your insurance once you hit 25?? Preferably the USAA guys. I mean I'm still a long ways from 25 but I've always been curious how much you actually save once you make it over the hill.

My insurance actually went up when I turned 25. They told me Texas doesn't give better rates when you turn 25, and at the
Age of 25 you can't get the good student discount anymore.

Yeah I asked the same thing once I turned 25, they said that as rates change (higher or lower) then that will reflect on your rate.

I was paying $163/mo for full coverage (state minimum for full coverage, no medical, no rental, 30/60) on my '05 ram QC and wife's '07 mazda cx7 through USAA. Then i switched to Farm Bureau and it dropped to $110/mo full coverage, when we got rid of the CX-7 and got my wife a '08 passat it went up to $111. Now my wife started working for Farmers so we are switching to them, both vehicles full coverage with extras will be $132

I actually work for a state farm agent here in San Antonio. If you have insurance questions i could possibly assist you.

I have
09 g8 gt
03 deville
73 vette

all with $500 deductibles higher liability limits with matching uninsured motorist. $10,000 pip,2 565A, rental, towing.

paying $298/month

but iam only 23 my and 22 year old gf on my policy. male rates decrease at the age of 25 and females at 21.

p.s. full coverage is not a real term, check you policy make sure you know what you have.

USAA, State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, Travelers, Unitrin, Progressive, Geico, ect.

All use CREDIT as a variable in determining your rate.

This thread is worthless.

An insurance company could quote your twin brother with the same address, driving record, vehicles, and coverages and get a different rate than you.

You have to chose an insurance company based on hard data.

Thank goodness Texas tracks this data for us!

You could start here (sample rates): https://apps.tdi.state.tx.us/helpins...t.do?type=auto

But most importantly go here (claims customer satisfaction): http://www.tdi.texas.gov/consumer/cpautoci10.html

That's BS! The only reason you don't get a "good student discount" @ age 25+ is because as a young male your classification changes from a "youthful operator" to an "adult classification". The "good student discount" is used to offset all the other $ HIKES $ associated with being a young male driver. The hell they don't give better rates @ 25+. In fact as a male you change "youthful operator" classifications 2x (1st @ 16, 2nd @ 21) before you obtain an adult classification. The savings from change in classification (youthful operation vs. adult operation) far outways ANY student discount savings you THINK you are giving up. Your rate didn't go up because you simply LOST a discount. You sir had an overall rate increase, period!

@ State Farm Insurance males actually get (2) youthful rating classifications prior to receiving adult ratings:

16yrs old: 2C1
21yrs old: 2C2
25 yrs old: 1B/1A*
55 yrs old: 5B/5A*
60 yrs old: 6B/6A*

2C2 is a less expensive rating than 2C1 as far as classification is concerned.

"A" designation is for pleasure use, retired, or disabled.

Never had any "student discount" to begin with. So maybe that has something to do with what you are talking about.

There is not specific XX% decrease @ USAA vs. competition because there are too many OTHER factors that determine your actual rate.

For example State Farm uses over 200+ variables in their rating model to determine automobile rates. Most agents can't name more than 10! Lol

Your answer is @ 1-800-531-8722. Yes they will tell you the difference IF you where all of a sudden 25+.

I would because it gets customers excited. Its called customer retention!
