I have a spec 3 plus and its tough the pedal is kinda stiff but who cares. an ls7 clutch would work just fine and it wouldn't hurt your legs to push it in everyday.

do a search on here.
a lot of people HAD problems with spec clutches.
i think it was just the spec three's.
i put in three...one in a goat, one in a t/a, and
one in my camaro. the one in the goat was the
only one that ever held and it made the most
power...go figure. too bad i did my camaro and
my buddies t/a the day after the goat.

I have searched on here. I have been around for a few years. I ain't a newbie if thats what you are implying. Most of the people on this board are shade tree's or kids that don't work on cars for a living. I do, its my profession and has been for the last 10 years. Spec has the most clutches in circulation therefore they will have the most failures. It makes sense. The problem is when people put more power to a spec 3 than whats its designed for. My spec 3 went out when I started spraying the car really hard and making almost 600 ft lbs to the wheels. They are designed to 600 ft lbs at the flywheel. People also dont resurface the flywheel, or they don't break them in correctly. I am just saying. . . Spec makes a good clutch and I am just tired of all these idiots that talk crap about them from hearsay or their own stupidity.

oh, and if you do decide to replace the clutch, make sure you install a remote bleeder while it's apart. its money well spent. there is someone here on tech that makes them and sells them (do a search, i cant remember name... i wanna say LPP), and also TDP sells one as an option on their installs.

The LS7 clutch isn't a bad choice for a car that isn't going to be modified extensively or abused often, but it is a heavy assembly and in most cases requires the use of our Adjustable Master Cylinder which makes a Monster Level 1 a much smarter option for the money.

Our Tick & Monster COMPLETE Clutch Swap Package includes everything you should replace/upgrade while doing a clutch, and it's $999.99 with free shipping for the Level One package: http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-...camaro-firebird/

Two major pluses to that package: the Monster Level 1 is warrantied for a year, the LS7 isn't. The Monster Flywheel is SFI certified, the LS7 isn't.

well, i am hurt you think i'm an idiot...
spec may have a lot of clutches out there, but
it seems strange that three cam only cars get the
same clutch, one gets a a resurfaced flywheel and
the other two get new lightweight units. my buddies
goat got the same flywheel i had and my camaro
and the t/a both had slipping clutches. the OP asked
for real life experiences and i gave mine. you would
think if it was something i did spec wouldnt have given
me my money back on the two bad clutches.
anyway i could care less what you think.
i put ls7's in my camaro and the t/a after that. i dont
have that camaro anymore but the t/a is still
rocking the ls7. i guess its been about three or so
years.
