I wish my whole family would just not get each other anything. I've been out of my parents house for 8 years, own my own home, have my own little family I don't need a bunch of useless crap I have to feel awkward about throwing in the trash when I get home. If I need something I buy it, why can't we just meet up, eat some good food and enjoy hanging out?

My family is pretty good about getting everyone stuff they know they can use that we need or would benefit us. My wife and I usually get gift cards to clothing places because were horrible about procrastinating buying new clothes. Ive been buying my dad restoration pieces for his 69 z28 for the last 10 years.....I probably could have bought myself one by now lol.

We should schedule an "Off-Family" Meet on Some Holidays...
I figured many people did not really "enjoy" the holidays and all the hanging out with family, in-laws, etc. I used to eat, then want to leave and go somewhere for some better times in the past. Family is cool in very small doses.
I used to think it would be cool to come up with a place indoors to meet that is open, like Christmas night or something, so a bunch of us could meet up and share our experiences, gifts received, car talk, etc. Some good times away from the stressful family and commercial gift buying. Or do you think everyone would still opt to stay tortured with the family??

Sometimes it is great when you live about 6000 miles away from your family. I love it when it is just me, my wife and the kids.
Nah... I grew up spending Christmas together with the family and now that I've been gone for 20 years, it sure would be nice to do it again every now and then. Then again, we see the family enough when we go there for 4-5 weeks in the summertime.

I'm really only worried about my girls (3 & 6). my wife and I get each other gifts but when your in your 30's anything beyond immediate family is ridiculous.
Only thing worse than family Christmas is co-worker Christmas. Every time I get suckered onto a work deal I try to get everyone to just bring a toy to donate for Toys for Tots- you would be amazed how many people would rather get a useless piece of crap than help a needy child....

Guess I'm lucky my inlaws are great the only thing that utterly sucks *** is that there is a 13 year gap between my wife and their next set of kids so my brother in law is 13 and my sister inlaw is 10 WTF. Yes they were married the whole 33 years no divorce or separation involved.

I bought myself bout 5gs worth of stuff this year, my mom and 2 sisters each a tv. Tv covers a "family" gift so not to buy each one of there kids a gift.
I heard some of my other relatives, got me stuff tbis year.gonna be akward cuz I did.t get em anything. Prolly run out tommorow and buy random 25$ or 50$ gift cards.
my aunt throws a traditional christmas eve dinner.
My cousins husband is a dbag. Always ask stupid **** and makes stupidass coments about anything. Hes an ex ricer turned wild hog.wannabe biker.
The good food makes up for all the other bs.

Im content to report, my brother in law is still among the living. Although I tried to be the bigger man and said hello and merry christmas, he responded witha go to hell look and a "**** off" under his breath.
