My facebook has been blowing up about this all day. I went to college in Stephenville (like 10 miles from Dublin) and we used to have Dublin DP on tap all around town, it was great. Everyone is pretty upset about it closing up shop, I admit that I never imagined it happening. All good things must come to an end I suppose.....

Haha! Well believe me man... You'd never guess me as a dp drinker then. I thought the official white trash drink was mountain dew?

I never liked DP but it's sad they couldn't come up with their own brand of soda using sugar. My wife has been buying http://maineroot.com/ and it's pretty good.

Stoners/gamers like mountain dew. Another thing about dp drinkers is they usually won't drink anything else.

I believe it was a Grey Area in the contract or something, The sale was in dublin which is one of the 6 counties but just ONLINE and shipped. I'm sure if they removed the Online sales part they could of still sold the DP. But instead held out and DP bought them out for I'm sure a lot of money...Hard to say but I would of done the same thing..

Dr pepper makes their own version of the cane sugar one. Unless they use the same sugar supplier which I doubt, it won't taste the same. Different sugar changes the way our rootbeer comes out also.

Not that its going to hurt their sales or anything, but i wont buy anything DPS anymore.... Just the fact that they shut down a small business was enough to make me not want to buy anymore of their products. Going to miss Dublin like crazy.

My family has owned Mr Frostys in Denton since 1954. We make our own root beer and a pretty good burger too .

Did Dublin approach DP about the buy out or was it a hostile takeover?

It was a takeover for breach of contract. I will find the other news report that goes into detail.
