I've heard some people say that there insurance was slightly lower with a vette than with there f body. Now whether it is true or not I personally don't know. But a friend of mine also told me this when he switched, whether he was full of **** I honestly dont know. Might be worth calling and getting a quote.

If so I might just get a vette. This weekend I'm gonna go look at a 05 v with 49k for 20.

When I bought my car I was also considering f bodies. The quote I got on an ls1 ws6 was higher than on a c5. Corvettes tend to be garage queened or driven pretty conservatively so their accident rates are lower than f bodies.

OP doesn't say what he needs the car for (hauling kids, lots of city driving, weekend track runs, etc...) so it's hard to give a recommendation.

I want the car for everyday use and something fun to drive. I might just drive it every other day or so. I use the gf car for work since I drop her off at work.

2007 AWD TBSS almost stock, 14 mpg city, 17-18 mpg hwy

I'm not a big fan of the 1st gen CTS-Vs but the 2nd gen (blower from the factory) are awesome. I'll probably get one next after the TBSS wears out. I was pretty close to getting a Tahoe but I'm glad I found this instead.

I would get an insurance quote on a vette for comparison. My insurance on the vette was lower than previous F-bodies and my 03 Cobra. I pay around 70 bucks a month full coverage with 500 deductible. I think I was paying 114 a month on the cobra, its due to the fact mustangs are involved in many more accidents/claims and overall considered young punk cars, f-bodies as well to a lesser degree.

AWD is no quicker than 2wd. I had a TBSS and it would hook on the stock tires. The milage is horrible as stated. Best we got was 19. Usually 18 mpg highway. We got rid on the TBSS in a year because it had multiple issues. The main one being with the AC.

I have a V and the wife has the G8 GXP. Both are far above the TBSS in build quality and performance. Granted the V is an 09, but I've been in gen 1's and they are still nicer than the TBSS. The G8 actually has more room in the back seat than the TBSS has. Sure there is the cargo area, but who sets there?

TBSS is no bigger than an extended cab silverado, I have both. I like the wife's TBSS but th mileage (15-17 avg) isn't much better than my silverado SS. I like the V on but they are coming on in years and a TBSS of the same year and mileage will be cheaper usually. My vote goes to a G8 as well if you at thinking of a V.

The G8 looks a lot better than the CTS-V and holds it's value well since there aren't many out there. I bought mine used for $20K in 2008 and it's worth more than I paid for it 4 years later. It's been very reliable too, the only thing I had to replace were the front rotors & pads and it has 51,000 miles.

By the way, I raced a TBSS a few weeks ago and smoked his azz! lol

I vote CTS-V unless you plan on towing something.

This is the reason + mostly older drivers buy the vettes, unlike the fbods.

On that SUV with a tune and bolt ons, i would say around 20-22mpg highway if ur lucky with the 2wd and a bit less with the awd. The CTS-V is only stick so its up to u.
BTW the AWD in the TBSS won't handle too much HP. If I was adding a blower I'd probably yank the AWD and go RWD. Also it's a A4 so the first mods should be a trans.

I can fit 2 dog cages + wife + kid + luggage in the TBSS which is the min space I need right now. It's a 5k # vehicle so you're carrying around half a ton more than a V and probably 0.75 tons over a fbody. If you want speed buy a vette.
