The OP is going for his birthday. If that happens to be anywhere near spring break, renting a car would be pointless based on the pedestrian traffic unless he will be spending his time outside of Vegas (zipline, Hoover Dam, Area 51, etc).

We only stay at the Bellagio or the Wynn, but I am a huge hotel snob. I like getting great service, and no place can beat those two. There are definitely better deals to be found.
If you are going to gamble, go downtown to the Golden Nugget. Payouts are better than on the strip.

I've stayed at every hotel in Vegas and my vote goes to the Monte Carlo - right on the strip so you're walking distance to everything and moderately priced... but not so cheap that you have to carry a bottle of germ-x and a can of lysol. Plus, unless you're trying to impress some chick with a badass room, you'll never do more than sleep in it anyway so price and location are the most important factors
funny story - my wife and I were there for a week, on morning #3 we were eating breakfast and didnt realize the cleaning crew was in our room. I had left my cell phone on a table and when we returned, it was sitting on a different table. I called the front desk, not upset at all, just curious why my phone had been moved all the way across the room. Within what seemed like 2min, they had two suits and the cleaning lady in our room. She explained that she had accidently knocked it off the table when she wiped it down and sat it on a different table. She also had written a note explaining why (which I failed to see) and sat it on the pillow. I was more than happy with that explanation but the suits insisted on comp'ing the rest of our stay including all meals and had two other men move all of our stuff to a suite. We even got a free week's stay in the mail when we got home.

^^ Thats great!!
The time we stayed in the stratosphere my gf and I returned to our room while cleaning lay was there. By the time I slid by her cart and one foot in the room, she was in front of me asking fr my room key. Which she checked to see if it was to that room. The whole staff from front desk to c crew, were exceptional. Sucks its so far off the map.

This is all great info. Yea me and my buddy will be going for our birthday in April (his is the day after mines). Since its our first time going we kinda want to go All out. Right now its kinda leaning towards Ceasers, Bellagio or maybe the Venetian.

All out?? Any of those you will be happy with. Tao is great on saturdays. XS I always hear is good. Marquee seems to be the ”it” place to be in the Cosmo also.

I'm sitting at a restaurant in Vegas right now. We're getting a little food before we head to sapphire to get my bachelor party going. It's about to get crazy in the next few hours......

If you are going all out, definitely do the Bellagio. That place is amazing, but more expensive than most other places named here. It's still not extremely expensive though. I stayed at the Luxor last time I went and wasn't really impressed, but it was cheap and I was hardly ever there so I won't be complaining.
I've heard a lot of good things about Planet Hollywood. Mostly I hear it from the younger crowd though (21-25). One of the best things about Planet Hollywood is the location. The Luxor was at the end of the strip, so we had to travel a little more to get just about anywhere. The strip is so easy to get around on, that hardly matters though.
A couple people have mentioned this already, but be sure and go to the old strip (fremont street). It is well worth your time at least for a night. Be sure and go at night, but before midnight to check out the light show.
GO SEE ALL THE FREE SHOWS!! Almost every resort has a free show, and they are almost all awesome! Go see Caesar's fountain show, Bellagio water show (obviously), Treasure Islands pirate show, and Fremont street light show. I'm probably forgetting one or two, but those are the main ones.
Have a good time man! It's nearly impossible not to in Vegas!
