Default average fbody header install cost?

I got quoted 270 out the door on an longtube install. Is that a good price or am I going to be paying too much? That's with me buying everything prior to the install.

That's a good price, I was quoted $400 years ago, that was about the same price as the headers themselves lol.

I ended up doing it in my garage with some friends.

It's a very easy fun thing to do, especially with a friend or two. Save some money and make a day of it!

You should definitely just take some time out of your weekend to do it, well worth it. Save those 270 dollars for something else lol

Do it yourself, plus a good chance to look at your car and get more familiar with it or where it could be leaking/worn out etc.

I do all my work myself, and since getting my recent fbody, had I not did the work myself I would have never known what else needed to be fixed.

i got quoted 300 but like everyone is saying, its easy and fun. all you need is a jack, some blocks cause you got to raise the car hella high to be able to shimmy the headers in. and some basic tools. like they said as well change your plugs while your down there, with my texas speed headers i had to undo the motor mounts and jack up the engine a little bit to fit in the driver side. the passenger side went in smooth as butter... but definately a fun weekend project, just make sure whoever is helping you is also a car enthusiast and doesnt mind the scrapes and getting dirty!!! have fun and enjoy

x2... Some friends, some beer, some pizza...

You're missing out buddy.

It don't take but 5 hours or so depending on how many you have to help ya. The header install is very simple to do, and doesn't take very long.

270$ is very cheap for labor. I know several shops charge 400$+ even double that.

After doing mine I would charge a pretty penny to do them for someone, that price is fair.

However like said, it's not too bad to do you just have to get the car really high off the ground to work them in. Get a set that are known for fitting good or you will hate life. I have hookers they fit awesome, texas speed and pacesetter also do. And of course the high end brands.

The hardest part for me was taking off my factory SLP dual dual exhast to put on my duals, I didn't want to hack it up like everyone does so we spent a lot of time seperating it.

Do it yourself. Labor wise changing the spark plugs is harder because of the difficult angles.

If you've never worked on cars before I suggest getting your hands dirty and learning how to do it yourself. That way you can tackle the ls6 intake manifold next

Personally I consider the spark plugs fairly easy to do. Guess that's just me. Just need a swivel socket and a shorty extension and your set but yea change them while you have em out.
