The government does not specify these cars had to gain weight per say. The weight gain is a result of GM/Ford having to meet crash worthiness standards set by the government, essentially adding more safety features, increasing the size of body/crumple zones. Ford and GM could have used a lot of carbon fiber and aluminum, but would have increased the cost considerably.

If the GT500 gets it, awesome. But paying 55k for a car that has the same basic suspension design as an F-150?
Ya jealous?

Not a bad move considering a live axle swap was on the mod list for a lot of the 03/04 Cobra owners...

yep...I tried everything to keep wheel hop at bay, poly IRS subframe bushings, poly rear control arm bushings, derlin differential bushings, QA1s, IRS subframe bracket, IRS differential brace...basically a small fortune in parts and would have just been better off with an 8.8 swap, while the above mentioned parts cured a lot of the wheel hop, it did not get rid of it entirely.

Well then my F150 suspension sure gets the job done with traction. My car hooks pretty good on the street now and all I did was change to aftermarket C/A's and some good struts and tires.

Now if we are talking about road racing (which I know very little about) I would think the IRS would be the way to go??

^This

It's not enough for a 55k car to go fast in a straight line. Not to mention ride quality...

Transverse leaf springs are a huge improvement over a traditional live axle. Not to mention that at 3200#lbs with the transmission in the rear, the Corvette is in a totally different class of car.

You're out of your element, Marty.

All of the big name tuners in Houston use dynojets.

Looks to be a sick car in stock form. I'm glad my Z isn't stock!

I think people fail to realize how bad *** it is that something in STOCK form, from the factory, with a warranty is making over 600hp to the tires, for only 6X,000.

Not a bad ******* deal.

They accounted for the straights, and the ZL1 is still faster (and more importantly more confidence inspiring). So I am betting the 1LE will be also.

I'm not denying that the 2013 GT500 will haul *** and smoke a Zl1, or that the 5.0 Coyote is a fantastic engine, it's just my opinion that the mustang needs an IRS badly. Especially considering its price and that all its competitors do.

Awful argument. Most people do not have the Mustang Dyno's calibrated correctly or taken the time to do so as they can be VERY comparable.

Regardless, it is a tool and not the end all be all measuring stick.

Dense people on this board.
