I love how the muscle guys are now comparing handling on these cars to justify a much slower ZL1 over a GT500. My how the times have changed.

The Shelby is just pure speed competitive with super cars at fractions of what they cost. 3.5 seconds is better than a Z06 and plenty of Vipers as well as the Ford GT i'm sure! That is great, as well as the 202 mph top speed. The ZL1 has respectable numbers, yet still weighs two tons nearly. I find the ZL1 to have the exact opposite goal compared to the GT500, that is an amazing handling package in a muscle car. To me, it is also a happy medium of both types of racing and that is what I see as more appealing.
Have the 2 cars (ZL1 and GT500) been compared head to head on an identical road course yet? I'm guessing the new GT500 is no slouch on a track with turns.

Couldn't agree more. Kinda like the "well, it's sales were better in the last xx years" argument. Gotta be kidding with that.

No, The GT500 has not but the Boss 302 was compared to the ZL1, and the ZL1 is much more planted, much less scary to drive, as well as having superior brakes and just being generally quicker around the corners. I'm sure the GT500 will fare even worse with all the extra weight.

This year gt500 has the same blower that previous year gt500s have gone 800+rwhp with...

So this could be bolt on, pulley, and tune away from 800rwhp..

can you imagine that?

motor will take it...

and hell if your not into that put a 3.6L kenne bell on it and throw 25lbs on it with a big fuel system..

make like 1000.

It's a great time to be an enthusiast of American muscle! We are potentially seeing cars come out that our kids/grandchildren will look back on and ask us just how crazy they were.
