Does the clutch look like it got hot? I've seen bad compressors that will still turn by hand but lock up with the system on causing either the belt or clutch to slip. If the belt and clutch look ok then maybe the clutch coil just went bad. I'd just hate for you to buy a clutch only to have it go bad because the compressor locking up is what burned up the clutch. If the clutch has all the paint burned off like it got hot then you need a new compressor and you need to have the system flushed.

Good point, definitly make sure you are getting power at the clutch with the new fuse in
