Another vote for Topwater Grill in San Leon. If you want some real good authentic Mexican food, check out Mama Ninfas on Navigation street.

If you plan on going to the beach in the Galveston area I would check out the following:

If you're into history there is an old offshore drilling rig turned into a museum in Galveston you should check out.

The Bishop's palace is really cool they do tours, it was built in 1892.

That's awesome kids have been asking to get on a train so this would be perfect. They have train rides I see "harborside Express Train Rides"

Looks like Friday will be going to the Space Center "Lunch With An Astronaut".

They loved it the last time they went.

If you like gyros there is a place inside the loop called niko nikos. Really good and I don't think it's far from the zoo. It does get pretty busy..

Sunflower bakery in Galveston is delicious. Although no longer a hole in the wall they still have a rather small building but very nice and comforting dining area. Also amazing breakfast!

Sean, if you get down to the strand, check out the candy store. http://www.lakingsconfectionery.com/
It's owned by Mitch Kings family (you know the top fuel driver). Was wiped out my Hurricane Ike, totally rebuilt as most of the businesses on the Strand.

Cant believe no one has suggested but STAR Pizza Parlor its one of the best and coolest looking pizza parlors in Houston. They make it look real old school like how they use to look back in the day. And not to mention there pizzza is delicious and they have crazy things on their menu like the chicken Alfredo pasta pizza And the pizzas are huge also havent been in forever but when I did I thought it was real neat have fune with ur kids

Nikos is off Montrose by westheimer. I go a couple times a month. It was on dinners, drive ins and dives a while back. The menu is huge, so I wouldn't limit yourself to getting just a gyro.

As mentioned, star pizza is pretty good and it's right up the road from niko Niko's.

Best burgers would be hubcap or Bernie's burger bus.

its on sunday. i have a ticket for both the dallas and houston shows. pretty good seats on the floor. its actually going to be a bit of a struggle for me to go to the houston show, so i'd be willing to sell it for face value... but it looks like you'd need more than one.
