TB SS thoughts?
So my kids love to hang out and go with me and love hot rods but they're still babies 3,2,1. I have been wanting a FI car. So what do you guys that own them think of them? It would just be a play toy to shoot around town with the fam and keep miles off of mommas car. I'd still have the T/A for "me" time.

I got the hardest to find actually, i got the Trailblazer, extended, aluminum 5.3. Runs better than the lesser engines, not as well as a 6.0 of course, but i can seat 7 and it was decked with leather and DVD, ect. It is a 03, mommas daily/family ride. The drives her 86 TA usually to work, but we go everywhere in the TB, love it and glad i got the SUV. I have my 2001 3/4 ton with a 6.0 tuned making 292 RWHP if i want more pwer and drive a truck.
The down side i hate about the TBSS is the AWD has issues. So i opted for the 2WD with the 5.3. Been a great truck with no issues. Did a minor tune, removed the TQ management and speed limiter, increased the enjoyability.
But the TBSS has me whooped in the looks and power department. I have 2 kids and number three will be here any day.hour, so the 7 seats works way better. 3 car seats is not going to work in the back without a headache on a 3 row bench...

I say go for it. I bought one new in 08 and rolled it. Bounced around between a few cars and just wasnt happy so i got another one end of last year and i love it.
PROS: comfortable, big enough with out being bulky, decently quick stock, responds well to simple bolt ons, handles alright for an suv, sleeper status.
CONS: rubber moldings on the doors sag, bad wind noise, center console rattles, paint on radio flakes off, heat soak like a ****
If you get one, i would reccomend doing efans, fenderwell intake, 160 tstat and a tune. It will really wake it up, greatly reduce heat soak, and improve fuel economy.

I just picked one up a little over a week or two. It is a 2007 3SS 2wd with a little less than 38K miles. I like it a lot so far. I purchased it at Texas Direct Auto for $22,980.
Pros: Pretty quick stock. Fits the family well (2 kids). Fun to drive.
Cons: Noisy (wind noise).
I have been getting about 12 mpg city driving only. I haven't even taken it on the freeway for more than a couple miles at a time yet. This isn't a big deal to me though as my f-150 I traded in was only getting about 13 mpg around town.
Thanks,
Chris

I absolutely love my TBSS. Without a doubt the TBSS is my favorite vehicle out of all the vehicles I currently own and my past vehicles too. I don't know why, I just truly enjoy it.
I have a Magnaflow catback, lowered (alot), electric fans, and an underdrive pulley. Mine is rear wheel drive, not AWD. I get 15.5-16 around town and between 18 and 21 on the highway with the highway mileage being very easily affected by wind, hills, etc. Manually calculated, don't trust the DIC.
I'm surprised to hear the wind noise complaints, it's VERY windy here and I have no issues. I did drive my dad's normal TB EXT and the wind noise was unbearable though so I can see it being possible. I did RTV my weatherstippings into place, maybe that contributes to it.
Rear DVD is a neat option for your kids, but I don't know how well you'll fit three kids in car seats back there with them all young enough to need one. It's not very big back there.
It's quick for an SUV, definitely not fast. Mine made 309rwhp with the electric fans and catback, untuned. I've got other parts stored up for it waiting to be installed.

I dont have a TBSS but I do have its cousin Saab 9-7x Aero. I absolutely love it! It has a lot of little things from the factory that add up to make it a perfect SUV for me. For one, I never have to worry about buying slicks for traction. I can put all 4 spares and even in the rain, I can launch it at 3500 rpm and just hook all the way. It has Nav, rear DVD, leather, HID's, DRL parking lights at high, 6.0L LS2, 14-bolt, sunroof, etc

I love the TB SS and would own one but for some odd reason the people I have ran into that have them seem to think they are driving a Corvette and want to run you down and race you.

I couldnt be happier getting back into another TBSS. Its definately an awesome daily driver for those of us who have kids but still want somthing fun. I usually get bored of my cars pretty quickly but i dont plan on giving up the TBSS any time soon. Needs more mods but its still fun to drive everyday. Also, the built in air compressor is pretty damn handy. FWIW my old 08 ran a 13.86 bone stock and probably had more in it in better air. Havent taken this one out yet but when the weather cools down again ill be shooting for mid-low 13's if i dont mod up before then.

Not a huge fan of mine. If I could do it all over again I would have ended up with something else. But its paid for, so that's a plus.
I have horrible wind noise. Tried having it fixed while it was still under warranty and they couldn't figure it out. I have an odd rattle coming from the front drivers side when I hit crappy roads, they couldn't figure it out. My front passenger window regulator, or whatever its called goes out about every 8 months, with very limited use. Not happy about that one, but was told there's nothing wrong with anything else, that could be causing it. The back seats are insanely uncomfortable, not that it matters to me. small issues aside, not a bad SUV, but I would rather have something else.
