I'm considering buying my coworker's 03 evo VIII. I haven't looked it over yet, but I know it has 33,000 miles, and he wants $16.5k for it. I'm pretty sure it's stock, and he is the second owner. He has had it for about 4 years, and bought it with 22k miles on it.
KBB values are 19.3k (excellent), 18.9k (very good), 18.5k (good) and 17.1 (fair).
I know I'll get one sided opinions here, but I figured some of you guys have experience with evos. I just bought an 01 camaro SS with 73k miles a few months ago, and I like it, but the evo seemed like a very good deal.
What do you guys think?

I should never have sold my 04 a year and a half ago... 16.5k with 50k miles on it. That was the "going rate" at the time. I could have kept it and it would have gone up in value. Doh!

As far as evos go they are very reliable and easy to work on. Gas mileage was ~23 highway 17 ish city. Like any performance car you have to keep up with them maintenence wise or they can start feeling loose and less sharp than they should be. They are a drivers car and provide better feedback than my Z.
I miss the feel of that car, but I don't miss the negative attention from authorities and the "kiddy" styling.

I have an X, car is a blast and with the newer gen has alot of comfort options and much safer than the previous versions. If it hasn't been ragged on and you have the money/want it just do it. The Evo market is fairly strong and a low mileage 1st gen is hard to find, if you arent happy down the road sell it for exactly what you paid or even more.
