56k last year. I work in data entry and process improvement (production planning) for a government contractor. I've been doing it almost 3 years. Not too bad for a 26 year old fresh out of college. It will work until I find out what I want to do with my life.
I'm working on a side business cutting and baling hay during the summer.

Design engineer, out of school about 5.5 years now, base is upwards of 90k, +10% "base" bonus (been 12-13% last couple of years). I really think my situation is likely more the exception than the rule, but most of the guys I graduated with are in the same (if not better) boat.

Four years ago I was fired from a tow truck driving job (for scratching the bed too much on someone's driveway and leaving white marks while loading a PT Cruiser) on Christmas Day.
My wife was let go from her job a few months later due to cutbacks. She got unemployment, I didn't qualify. We lived on her check for a couple months and started working on the computer from home, doing freelance virtual admin work. She was way better at it than me and she got a really good client right off the bat and turned it over the past three years from a few hundred a week to about five thousand a week. She has other clients too. I just work for her at this point, no sense going out to do anything else because nowadays she can click her mouse a dozen times Monday morning and make twenty bucks an hour all week long. Some of this twitter and facebook stuff is too easy.
So I guess last year we cleared about $180K after payroll, expenses, taxes and all that. Gross was more like $600K? This year we've already cleared that much as of the end of August. We might see a full million gross. I can't take any credit for it, either, but that's OK, because I don't have to worry about where my next tank of gas comes from.
