The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
If you really want a C5, the guys in this thread have provided pretty much all the big issues you can expect. Be a good idea to check out the links as well.
. Mine's an '03 and always people can't believe it's that old. Yes there's a few issues as everyone has said, but the bottom line is it's a great car and a blast to drive. People stop and stare at a Vette, I don't even look at a T/A or SS. L8R ZFLASH

My only complaint is the dash lights are pretty dim, even with them adjusted to full bright. My HVAC lights are sufficient but the dash lights suck.
27k miles on mine and other then those little quirks, it has been fine.... Now the drive train is another story....I have broke every thing in the drive train atleast once. But it has been over 600rwhp for the last 5 years.
I have only put 2500 miles on it in the last year due to breaking drivetrain stuff and now the last 6 months has been a motor R&R...
Hopefully I don't have any gremlins when I restart it after all this time.
OH and last thing, the Z06 seats suck.... the buns of the seat wear out in no time and the seat frame is like an ole rocking chair. There is fixes for this stuff though.
A C5Z is the best bang for the buck car out there..... Anything you can buy for under $20k, runs low 12s stock and 1g on a skid pad is a great bargain...Not to mention they get 25+mpg on the highway...
I'd love to have another stock one for a daily driver...

The one complaint that I had with my c5z when it got older are basic electrical issues. I had more than most, but still a great car.
Like him, I broke stuff every time out to the track in my c5z. I spent about a grand in 6 months just getting towed home from the track. My base 2008, I never broke a single thing in it(except the C6 6-speed 1/4 record). Half shafts, rear, tranny, etc all took a beating and worked great.
