Boost controllers work. But, on 18s - Gus would be able to turn it up a little more. Just the savings from rotational inertia alone on the 20s are likely worth 2 car lengths. iForged 20" wheels are not lightweight at all, haha. Actually some of the heavier forged wheels.
I had zero traction issues on my 18s. Even with over 1,000 ft-lbs as soon as I nail the throttle in 2nd gear. No boost controller here, just my right foot.

Yeah I hear ya, but I was on 18's as well and I couldn't hook in second or third. And thats at the 1000rwhp and TQ here too. Our cars are a little different and maybe thats the reason, but I'm frustrated that a lot of ppl are hooking up and I can't lol! I saw Gus's car dead hook on his higher boost setting when he had the 1320 guy in the car, mine wouldn't do that on less power is all I am saying. The extra height of his 20's at least allowed him to only have to go through one shift and still hit low to mid 170's in the distance.

My car doesn't hook for **** either. Welcome to the club. What tire were you on?

Looked like Jeff was on 345-18's. That is a tall tire too. Didn't Hector run that tire on his old setup? Car looked like it hooked well over 1000.
I wish Hoosier offered their drag radial in more sizes.

No brake boosting for me just quickly rolling the throttle. I am ramping the boosting from @15lbs I know that is still 950's tq. Like Mark said they were the 345 Mickey Thompson's with stock 3:42's. The only thing I can think of is that the tires might be a little old since I bought them with the wheels used etc... But they had about 3/4 of the tread when I got them and was told they weren't that old etc... Duy thanks for the vote of confidence Mr automatic traction controlled car LOL! That was a nice take down though!

Yeah the 20's were working for him! He was doing real well on them and he and I had the same idea on the taller tires to eliminate a shift, but I didn't have a bunch of time and thought the Mickeys would work. I know he didn't dead hook everytime, but I never did a single time. I'm going to buy a new set and have them heat cycled and see how those work for me. So who knows. If it were and F-Body it would have hooked lol!
