Will be graduating from Northeastern University this coming may with my BS in mechanical engineering and have started looking for jobs. I have always liked Texas and have done my last three co-ops in California and Massachusetts, so I figured I would see what mechanical engineering jobs some of you guys have down in the lone star state. I know oil is obviously big down there, anyone have a job in that industry? Been looking around monster.com a little lately and it seems like there is a decent amount down there.
Any and all input appreciated!

Congrats!!! As far as jobs, it's all about oil and gas down here and the industry right now is booming. Can't find enough engineers to fill the jobs.
I would definitely recommend getting a LinkedIn profile or create a profile on rigzone.com so that employers can search for you at the same time. You'll be able to find plenty of oil and gas specific jobs openings on those sites. LinkedIn in a huge networking tool. It's like a mature, professional Facebook (no stupid status updates).
What experience did you have during your co-ops? ME's have more options than they know what to do with.

Thanks for the replys so far guys. I've got a linkedin profile already so I guess I should check out rigzone as well. I got a lot of experience on my three internships. Tons of testing, tons of solidworks/design projects, manufacturing, troubleshooting, machine shop experience etc.

^^I work for this little company^^
With a degree in ME and the willingness to work, you'll have no problem finding a job in Houston.
Good luck to you!

OP, there are a ton of jobs here for MEs. Just to give you an idea, I've already had about 12 interviews, not including 2nd rounders and upcoming 2nd rounders (2 offers so far). I've even declined a few interviews. With good work experience and a ~3.0+ GPA you will definitely find something. Just go to career fairs, And apply apply apply. I personally don't know of any ME, at least at A&M, that has had trouble finding a job. Good luck!!

Depends on what part of Texas. Like these guys said, oil and gas is booming right now. Also in the Texas panhandle outside of Amarillo theres a "little" plant called Pantex. They are always in need of engineers. Good luck to you!

Just as everyone said plenty of opportunities for Mechanical Engineers here in Texas. Rigzone and ManufactoringJobs were of good help especially for a person with good GPA and experience like you. Best of Luck.
