A/C problems
wondering if any body else has experienced the problem I'm having with my a/c? It's a new compressor and dryer by the way and it does have the right amount of Freon just charged it yesterday. the compressor does not stay on when the RPM's drop but when i accelerate the compressor runs. don't know if it's tune related or electrical or mechanical. my bros car's doing the same thing. It's a 99 Camaro any feedback would be helpful.

If the car is idling too low the pcm will disable the ac compressor. Dirty throttle bodies or tune issues in hot weather can cause this. Double check to make sure the cooling fans are running
The pressure switch for the HVAC is a 3 wire sensor monitored by the pcm it's a digital variable resistance sensor not a switchand tells the pcm liquid line pressure of the HVAC system.
REally need a scanner to check deeper into this and don't start throwing parts at it.

having a similar issue with mine
Start the car and turn on the A/C and nothing happens, hot air blows, but rev the car a little and it kicks in. Once it's on I don't have problems. I'm betting on the pressure switch but I haven't had time to throw gauges on it.
good luck, its hotter than hell

we put a vacuum on the system and held it for 15 minutes to check for leaks then added the freon, I can manually kick on the compressor with HP tuner and it gets cold but i let the PCM control it and it will not stay on, my car idols about 900rpm i have to rev it up to 1K for it to come on.

just a lil update the problem is the tune, Got on HP tuners forums and asked the same questions and a guy told me to check the Stall Saver RPM points and to make sure i have a good steady idle. If the PCM See's the RPM drop below the stall saver rpm set point it will deactivate the A/C compressor, I got that done but if the car surges at idle the PCM will also shut the A/C down so now I have to figure out ho to get a good steady idle, Any info or tips on how to do this with HP Tuners will be helpful.
