The LS1 alt is 105 amps, whereas the truck style alternators were 130 or 140... (i think, someone might correct me on that) They are different in size also, with the ls1 being smaller.

I run the 2006 escalade 145 amp on mine! They are slightly bigger but fit perfect! Its also much better then the stock 105a ls1,the diods go out alot on the 105a ive had no issues with the truck ones!
