GM techs come in - I need help
I get the motor into the car and start hooking up the wiring harness and discover that this new motor has an extra camshaft sensor. No big deal. Then I find that the crank sensor on the old motor is a 2 wire hall effect sensor (which i believe only reads TDC) and the new motor uses a PWM 3 wire sensor reading a 36 tooth ring on the crankshaft. Obviously you can't use the old sensor on the new crank or vice versa. The car won't start and immediately throws a CKP code P0332 I believe.
Do any of you GM techs know what I have to do or what I can do to make this motor run?
Also, I just wanted to say that no good deed goes un punished. lol. This car has been nothing shy of a nighmare the whole way through and I just need to get her back in her car. Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this shitty situation lol.
Essentially it's like trying to put a 13' 6.2 into a 02 camaro it fit's and looks the same but that's where their likness' ends.
Sorry to be bearer of bad news but nothing you can do will ever make it start or run.
I considered ever swapping cranks over, but that seems like more work than putting a new motor in.
The harnesses should be the same other than those wires...
Your biggest problem will come in the form of the passlock and databus communication issues due to incompatible pcm with other modules in the vehicle. The rolling codes programmed into the bcm and pcm change year to year so a 07 bcm will have antitheft codes from what the 05 pcm is looking for and you'll have a no start condition and DTC for.
The cam reluctor and sensor are different teeth counts also.
Change the motor don't start messing with electronics.
I have a very reputable salvage yard we have dealt with exclusively for years if you want pm me and I'll give you their number and they can get you a solid reliable engine at a great price. They are out of the austin area.
