Formula 1 - Austin, TX

The Formula 1 USGP is this weekend. I'm throwing the idea around of going. I was looking for rooms but I'm shocked at the rates they are going for! $200+/night, even for the 2 star motels! I looked around on Craigslist and found some decent guest rooms/studios for about the same price. The cost of attending this event is stacking up :-/

Anybody here going?

Yea the hotels raise the rates during any big event down here

And they will sell out of just about all the rooms

Just like all the hotels in Vernon for summers last blast, the second weekend in August

I've had success finding vacation homes for weekend stays in the Lake Travis area on homeaway.com. You're a little farther out from the track, but great scenery/food for after the race and good roads for cruising around the lake.
