Default Cold/flu

Had one or the other start Friday before New Years. It sucked and I don't miss it. Seem to get sick once every 2 years like this.

But, here I am, woke up today with what feels like the same crap. The usually cannot stay warm, headaches, throat and nasal congestion. FML....

Anyone else ever had this issue back to back? So far fever has been 100.0x, last time was near 103, so it is "better" than before so to speak.

I was in the same boat, got the flu right before Christmas, turned into pneumonia. Had to get a steroid shot, and a penicillin shot, also had to do breathing treatments. This **** put my dick in the dirt for 3 weeks. You are describing the exact same symptoms. I got over the initial fever in just a couple days and thought I was out of the woods. Then fever came back 24-36 hours later and the congestion got a lot worse. Do yourself a big favor and just go to the doctor now.

Jesus man, bad to worse. Just coughed up a couple large pockets of hard mucus today from the back of my nasal cavity, so I'm nowhere near as congested. Just glad the headache is going away. Just a little light headed feeling that I want to go away. Think I'm getting better for the most part.

Yeah it was bad stuff. I usually get the seasonal cold/flu, but bounce back after a day or two. The strain going around this year is apparently a really nasty strain causing respiratory issues. I can usually hack that **** up, but it was deep in my lungs this time and was unable to. I never go to the doctor for anything, but went this time as soon as I realized was not getting better.

I hope you get to feeling better, but if you don't soon, would go ahead and visit the doc.

There are several strains going around, the nastier strain has been putting 20-30 year old's in the hospital, apparently a real healthy immune system overreacts to the virus causing an inflammatory response in the lungs that can lead to pneumonia...

YES, I'm sick as a rat past 2 days and I've had a flu shot a couple months back. Went to doctor today for a unrelated prescription renewal and the nurse told me they have been busy with cold / flu patients.

Well, if I can stop sweating, I'll be doing pretty damn good at this point. Was sure nice that it happened on the weekend so I don't have to miss work. After working on salary for over 9 years, this hourly wage stuff is way different.

Cold/flu medicine helps, also alternating between ibuprofen and acetaphetamine every four hours helps to keep the fever down as well as body temp issues. A good way to help your throat/congestion is warm water with honey and fresh squeezed lemon juice. All that got me through finals week with a fever of 104. Best of luck!

That's what was in the packets I was using through the new year. I probably screwed it up. I mixed it with about 2 oz of water and took it like a shot. It said to use more water and sip.... That stuff was at the edge of my gag reflexes, so it was t really and option.

I did however cough so hard last night while trying to sleep(just woke up for work, actually fell asleep about 1:45), that I threw up what little was in my stomach. Peachy...
