It is. My favorite truck until I built this was a 1996 Dakota with a 5.2 and 5 speed in a swb single cab. This is much much better.

Hedman hustler 1 5/8 mid lengths with 3" collectors. The ball flange that comes with them is 2.5", that runs into a 3" single through a 12" bullet dumped at the rear axle.

Nice build. My current rig is an 87 Short bed stepside truck with a stalled 5.3. Made 309 hp with as set of longtubes and a conservative tune. I drive it everyday and I average 18 mpg. Took it on a 600 mile road trip last weekend to Houston and worked great. Good job bringing that yard art back to life

Pics of said truck? Always liked the first gen but after building one I like them even more. I have a sweet *** daily driver now.

Nah, keep it and get a s10 as well. Lol. That's why the mustang still need a trans. Lol

And no, no dope and don't have any plans for any. Just a daily cruiser that runs ok. But I'm not going to sit here and act like I'm not tempted. Lol

Here it is. Ice cold AC and drives great. Sucks not having a stereo. 600 miles listening to the sound of wind. I gotta finish the interior and stereo soon and it'll be good to go. I just picked up a roadmaster wagon that is getting a 5.3 soon.

That's a sweet little truck. Only way I will ever go Efi is when I go to a boosted setup. My carbs are simple, cost effective and make power easiest.

How much were your AC lines?

Yeah but if I kept a carb then there's no sense in going lsx. I love the turn key ease oft his motor. No more pumping the pedal on cold mornings, it's quiet, and gets very good gas mileage. I have the twin tanks so I'm never at the gas station. I was gonna get AC lines built but instead I frankestein'd a hose assembly from an 89 suburban. They don't look great but at 1/3 the cost I won't complain.

No point in going LS with a carb? Only the leaps and bounds ahead of a gen I, that's the only point. My cars run harder than most and I get it done cheap and tune myself. And if yu cannot get any fuel economy from a carb then you don't know how to tune them. I'm not going to act like its easy but my 6.0s are faster than most of my 383 small blocks I have built. If that's not enough reason I don't know what is. Lol

My 4.8 with baby cam and carb trapped 84 mph in the 1/8th, and that's one pass with tuning left, not many 350s we doing that with a small cam. So not sure where the no point comes from.

Take it easy. Carb'd lsx motors run harder than most carb'd big blocks. I just have a natural disposition against carbs. No doubt that motor rolls out though. I haven't gotten my truck down a pass yet bc I can't seem to get the thing to hook with the stall and Hankooks (Can't Hooks). I know it has a solid low 13 in it which is great for a factory 5.3. I've got a 6.0 with 862s and small cam and 125s hot waiting once I get the suspension sorted.

Well, at least you can admit you just don't like a carb setup. Lol

Saying that there is no point in carving a LS just gets that kind of response from me. Too many ignorant folks here and there that have never touched a carb talk bad about them and have never even tuned their own Efi. Lol

I've been ironing out the bugs in my tune and really improved things when I made the road trip to tx2k14. Carbs make big power and are simpler so less chance of problems but efi has them beat when it comes to drivability. Plus I even considered a carb setup but the EFI setup came out to be a bit cheaper so obvious choice. But who cares. Your truck rolls the f$(& out and ask that stand if he wants to redo the race with a 1000 lbs of bricks in the bed and see who wins. I love swapped beater trucks. I'll never own a fourth gen again.

Not sure how making my truck weigh as much as a full size would be a point to all this. But whatever works for you.

The slight down side to "drivability" I'm no sure what you mean. Because I run chokless carbs, your cold starts are better, everywhere else, my carbs run just as good as EFI. And I have no problem tuning for a tight LSA cam like my Trex in my 6.0, Efi tuners out there were not happy trying to get those to idle and drive at low speed. The good tuners could do it. But there were not many.
