Interesting article for inspection tags in 2015.

I think this is the best thing. Having to keep track of two dates is just insane. I wont say what state I came from 10 years ago but this is how it worked. Get your notice to renew your registration and every 2 years(wish they would do this) you had to just have smog not safty done. Signal is sent to DMV and all done.

Yeah, it's not really changing much. I wish Texas would drop OBD1 and just make is a safety inspection, PA, MA, IL and AZ are like that.

They are going to follow the letter of the law as always. . You will still get the smog and safety inspection done as before. I am sure you will just take a pass/fail verification sheet with you to the DMV. Don't let the Texas government fool you it will still cost the same or more. They will just save the cost of producing two stickers with serial numbers. They didn't get to be a rich *** state by giving back.

they offer up to 3 year registrations now so maybe we only have to get it inspected once in three years? that would be cool.

I was under the thought that if you failed the inspection you cant get your registration renewed under the new law.

That would be real cool. It sucks getting getting inspections and registrations every year especially for those that have multiple cars.

I am hoping for the same. Most of my cars already have the 3 years so I wonder if I can just scrape the inspection sticker off when it runs out?

Hopefully the DMV will get electronic info regarding the inspection so that you can renew the registration online.

I'm not going to start waiting in line at the damn tax office again.

The way I read it, you'll still go through inspection like you do now. So if you pass now, you'll pass next year. The difference is that you won't get a sticker, and you have 90 days before your tag expires to pass.

What I found interesting was the part about if your inspection is still good when your tag is up, you don't have to get an inspection until 2016. No inspection for me next year.
