A/C system Hi,
I have just replaced my compressor, manifold lines on my 2000 Chevy Cavalier along with the orifice tube, vacuumed it out and recharged it but it doesn't seem to be blowing very cold air. Do you have any idea what could be causing this problem?

There could be several issues. We'd need to know what the temperature is out of the center vents, and what your pressures look like on a set of AC manifolds/gauges. How long did you pull a vacuum on the system. I think spec is like 15 minutes per pound of refridgerant the system holds, but I usually like to pull vacuum for a good 45 min to an hour. Especially if the system has been open longer than 24 hours. After pulling a vacuum, did you watch to see if the gauge bled down (indicating a leak)?

Hi we pulled a vacuum for at least 20 to 30 minutes. The gauges read just fine not sure what because I wasn't out there. Sorry, the system was not opened for 24 hours. Hope that helps.

Vents aren't blowing that cold at all, and I think the compressor kicks on as far as the fans I think their all running its hard to hear it but when they were charging it, it was all working. But when I leave work I will listen and make sure.
Why did you replace the compressor? If it failed it likely spit a bunch or crud inside your system as well. Did you replace the accumulator as well? How many lbs did you put in, i just had mine charged and it only took 1.5lbs, mine works great.
Did you add oil to the new compressor before installing it, if not did you add some with die in it before adding freon to the system?

Did you blow the system out to get any metaL or debris out of the lines and system??? Did you replace the accumulator???? Did you put oil in the system??
After answering those questions put some gauges on it and report back what the low and hi side pressure readings are.
