If you buy new, you will have to pay taxes and registration. $2250 is basically 2k plus fees.
GL on finding a used one too. I looked for a long time. Can't explain it, but used trailers sell for the nearly the same price as new or more. And they sell fast. I couldn't see the point in spending 2k on a used trailer with dry rotted tires when I could get a new one for ~2400.

Find a Big Tex trailer dealer and go look at their 70DM models. Very nice trailer. We purchased one a year ago and I can see it lasting for a long, long time. Also, they're very safe and you don't have to worry about the car you have on it. Price is about $3500 but you can put your $2000 down and finance the rest through Sheffield for a couple years. IMHO you'll be happy that you spend an extra thousand on a GREAT trailer!

You're not going to find a new steel deck for $2k. I just got done filling out a loan application for a new BigTex 18ft steel deck, $3427 after TT&L, best deal I have found for a new one.
