Default Flooding anyone?

Inch or so got in to my house. Was bad as I have ever seen. Tore the carpet out and hoping that is the worst case scenario at this point.

Worse stayed mostly north of us. Get a dehumidifier or two in there immediately or sooner.

Floods can be really shitty. The flood insurance we must maintain is often short coming to say the least. Good luck to you man. I am having our new home built well above what it should ever need but realize anything can happen.

No flooding from rain, few months ago faucet in kitchen line split in two and dumped water all over.. i tried several box fans over night with carpet pulled up ane back.. didnt phase it.

End up calling serv pro, they set up 6 commercial fans on high and a huge humidifier! Tooks 4 days to dry out before we could start repairs. Mold is not to be taken lightly!

Pull up all base boards touched by water or close by, cut out the wet/damp sheetrock and get it dried out asap!

Yes make sure u get some fungicide or something similar on the frame after cutting out all the sheetrock. I went threw a lot with Ike when may roof failed and filled my attic with water then of course the ceiling/sheetrock collapsed. If you have homeowners insurance make a chart of time u spend cleaning and whatever work you. U can use that to help defer the cost ur homeowners deductible. They credit general labor rate and that will lower or wipe out your deductible.
Sorry to hear u got water in the house but take and cut the sheetrock and get the frame trade against mode.

Define flooding?

For instance, the flood last year was 26" in the house, so, this time, the 14" seemed like hardly nothing...

Actually, it's a total nightmare.

I managed to get her up on ramps in the back and (somehow) found the cross-member in front and got it jacked up.

The transmission is brand new. Had to rebuild it after ~2000 miles after last years flood. That rebuild didn't hold and they'd just redone it a month ago.

Memorial Day 2015 flood

Moved out to the West Side now.

Cars...make sure to REPLACE the jute.
Houses...once dry, treat all wood with a 50/50 bleach solution or other mold killer, then a sealant like Kilz. Mold is no joke.

Anybody know anybody that would remove my interior, clean/coat the floor of the truck, pressure wash the carpet, replace the jute and reinstall?

I've been needing that for a while now.

I don't want to do it!

I'm out Energy Corridor way.

Thanks,

-Kyle

Yep. Getting the wet baseboards and sheetrock out is key and will let you get inside the walls dried out. It's key. I would say to cut the sheetrock a foot above where its wet.

Yes, pull the jute, let the car dry out and clean the metal and other surfaces. I never used sealant, but its not a bad idea.

Clean the carpet with laundry detergent, a brush, a then pressure wash it to rinse it out. Hang it on the fence to dry in the sun until it is completely dry. Put new jute in (can be bought at most any auto upholstery place) and re install carpet over it.

Any electrical connectors are good to check while the carpet is out and spray with something to keep corrosion from starting.

Mold and mildew are SOBs to get out once they set. Bleach, mops, sponges, and elbow grease are your best options for now. Then use dehumidifiers and ozone generators if you can find them.

I'm out of stock and don't expect to see any for a while. We have water extractors to pull from deep carpet/jute while carpet fans help wick water to the carpet fibers.

Standing fans won't do jack. Carpet fans direct the airflow at higher mph OVER the carpet to wick moisture to the fibers. Pulling the carpet up won't help unless you apply heat with a hair dryer, heat gun, or space heater.
