Looking for an area to live around Houston

We need to know your style to be able to give you good suggestions.
Are you young and trendy? Midtown
Are you more of country boy? Tomball, Crosby, etc
Like suburbs and really nice community? Woodlands, Sugarland, Katy
Like the water? Clear Lake, Kemah, League City is nice too
Stay away from the 5th, 2nd, etc. Wards.
I-45 traffic sucks on the North and South, but South will get better in a little over a year.

I live in Humble and I like it alright. The only thing I really don't like is how there are cheap neighborhoods around my neighborhood (which isnt cheap) and so we get some riffraff coming through our hoods stealing **** off lawns and stuff. Also don't like that there aren't really any car guys in my neighborhood at all other than a couple old hot rod guys.

ok so humble is out of the question, sounds like My home town "Raymondville" AKA the valley.I'm Familiar with Houston Just not that detailed so to speak.. I'm more country, wouldn't mind a nice community area.I will have a boat.. gift from Father in law, and shortly exiting the army i will pick up my Harley..wife doesn't really care as long as we don't hear gun shots every night and a good school my son can attend here when he gets of age. he's only 8 mo so we still have time till he hits the school system.

You need to check out my neighborhood then. 'May be right up your alley.thenlots are all a little over half an acre to a little over an acre. We have a fake HOA, so it looks nice but we aren't beat up by the issues the real ines have.

Same with 1-10 in Katy
Just south of The Woodlands where I-45 and 99 meet has a lot of reasonably priced housing going in. When I got out of the military I used Bradley-Morris.com to find a great job.
I also said the same thing about The Woodlands being too far North but ended up a bit further North in Conroe and get to work in downtown Houston in 35 min. 45 coming home with traffic.
My advice is look for the job first and then pick the area.

Very good choice. Some people think renting is just "Wasting" money, but it gives you time to really think about what you really want and how much you want to spend… potentially saving you a bunch of headaches and misery later…

Where are you at? I grew up off 1314 closer to 59, the wife grew up off Porter Ln. We live in the woodlands in oak ridge north now.

Valley boy here (San Benito) My wife and I moved to Katy almost 2 years ago and love every bit of it. This town is growing like you wouldn't believe. I work on the North/Cypress/Katy/Rosenberg area so I'm always on 99. I know I10 gets really bad depending on what time of day you hit it but ever since 99 opened up from 290 to 45. I don't do I10 much. We also rented for a year before pulling the trigger on a house. We actually moved out to Brookshire but still in the Katy ISD area. Houses are going up really fast in the subdivision we moved into. It's a nice area, far enough away from all the traffic but 2 exits from Katy Mills. Good luck!

Yup, in golden trails actually. Off youpon. Love it. Finally ordered the EZ tag as well. Life keeps getting better around here for me. Grand parkway is great.

Ahh fellow Valley Boy! Yea Right now she's zeroing in around humble/porter/ she still loves Katy though.. depending where i start working will probably be the deciding factor what area we stay for good, I don't mind driving a few minutes to work so Traffic is something i'm familiar with.Once i get there and have figured the living situation i'm planning on getting back into drag racing so i'll be looking for a single cab sierra i'm wanting to twin turbo it That's all the plans i have right now for it.. lol

Whatever works for ya brother. I am happy and content. 3 miles from my regular job and my shop is constantly picking up clients and it is on my property. I cannot complain about much.
