God I hate those Flag uniforms. Guy on the right reminds me of a gay friend of mine from my days in Longhorn Band. We called him the Big Gay Pumpkin because he was a big fellow, quite gay, and when he put on his uniform, he looked like a pumpkin.

Man, an engineer buddy at work went up there today to the memorial because it was his roommate & best friend that was lost in the bonfire....**** a damn sticker on a helmet, people lost their lives/friends/family.....if you can see, respect that or just not make a big deal about it, then that's just fucked....I don't care which side you are on. We are all Texans.

UT laughs at A&M...yet count the days down to T+1

A&M laughs at Tech...Yet goes nuts after kicking their *** after the last couple of losses

we have seen many longhorns on this forum alone counting the days down for T+1 then turn around and say the rivalry does not exist *COUGH* mmiller *COUGH*

I think a few people here are lying just to make the other look bad...lame
Couldn't have said it better myself!
The thing is all these tea sippers that claim A&M and TU rivalry isn't ****, due to the fact that they have won the past couple of years are really just arrogant a-holes who belong at Tea Sipper University and don't understand the full history of the rivalry......
Why if this thread had been posted in the mid 90's when A&M was whooping the **** out of TU year after year, you wouldn't get to many TU fans saying the rivalry wasn't anything to worry about

GIG EM AGS & BEAT THE HELL OUT OF TU!

It's not about hating UT as said earlier. It is just kind of our way of remembering our fallen brothers and sisters. As an aggie looking out you can't explain the spirit and as a non aggie looking in you can't understand it either. Kind of dammed if you do dammed if you don't. I hope none of us share any malice for other schools. This would be truly a shame being as everyone came togther as one big TEXAS family in time of tradgedy. I was still going to school when the Bonfire fell. My then girlfriend and I were awaiting the arrival of our new daughter at the time and both suffering through school. It was rough for all involved and I am now working on my masters so going to the ceremony this afternoon had a even deeper meaning. My daughter and I went it was a special time for all of us. It really brings you closer to those that you love and look on life ina new way every morning. Later guys and thanks for all of the support for the aggie family

I get a kick out of how riled up the Ag fans get over discussions regarding Texas. Its all in fun. Some folks tend to take themselves WAY too seriously though.

All smack talk and kidding aside, the bonfire tragedy was very sad. I feel for the families who lost loved ones. I think the memorial and annual service is a great idea in rememberance for those who were killed. We're all Texans and its just a rivalry. When lives are lost it brings a cold, hard reality on how precious and short life is.

I dont and will never understand that.
That to me seems like an obsession.

I also didnt say it wasnt a rivalry, it is. I just wished it was more civil.

Anyway, I knew one person who died in the bonfire and a friend lost his brother, so I am keenly aware of what happened and have a lot of reverence and sadness when it comes to the bonfire incident.

MMiller, do you realize that you are in EVERY Texas A&M related thread, talking **** way more than anybody else? So next time you sit here and say we take things to seriously please take a look at your own actions, you seem to be taking this more seriously than anyone else, in fact, it has appeared to have angered you for some reason, relax...

I just thinks it's stupid how he talks so much ****, post in every A&M thread, and then turns around and says he could care less about the A&M rivaly, and how WE have "***** envy" and take it too "serious".

I guess it just irks me because I would rather have seen an A&M sticker on the helmet, rather than a UT logo with the crossout through it. I can understand decorating the pots that way when you're building, but this pot wasn't meant for that. It was meant to honor the fallen Aggies.

When it's game time, I don't mind the upside-down Hook 'Em from the Sooner fans, the "TU" references, or any of the other anti-UT stuff that goes on. It just seemed out of place for this occasion. Both schools have their good and band fans. I've seen enough bad UT fans to last me a lifetime. Knowing when to be a fan and when to be a Texan makes a big difference in my book.

That is the most intelligent thing I have read on the last 4 threads about A&M.
I wish everyone would just grow up. These threads just turn into yelling matches and I wish everyone could discuss things like this without all the name calling. Makes me feel like I am in middle school again. And I am talking about form both sides not just the Longhorn fans.

Mike: I respect your post, and can agree with what you are saying, but I hope to express a different opinion.

The reason why the pot was decorated as it was was because it was modeled after pots used during bonfire.
Bonfire was built to represent the burning desire to beat Texas. (Or, Beat the hell out of t.u.)
The rivalry was part of Bonfire, and the memorial is capturing the memory of those who fell during the tragedy, as well as the spirit of what Bonfire, which is what had them out thre at 2:00 am working.

Just my $ .02

Rivalry's are what make going to OU, Tech, UT and A&M a blast. True every team looks forward to one game more than the other b/w the teams:

Tech -> A&M
A&M -> UT
UT -> OU
OU -> whoever they wind up playing in the championship i guess

But, IMO, the rivalry forms a bond b/w the schools and the students that go to each. Ppl that attend other schools, or that are not in either school wouldn't understand. It probly looks like 'hatred'. But when i'm not at school and i come accross a longhorn, red raider, or a sooner .... i'll carry on a conversation w/ them just as long as i would if they were another aggie.

Im one of the biggest Longhorns here I bleed burnt orange but what happend at A&M with the bonfire was horrible and very tragic-I have no problem with aggies its just a fun rival game. But what happend at the bonfire was terrible and i dont think the sticker was meant in any certain way to offend us horns or to be taken as a F$%# you your a horn. Just my .02 worth.
