WTF Didn`t know they were doing that. I get on 290 just after Hollister all the time. I do have cats but my cam is on a 112 LSA. I wounder if I`m going about 110 MPH if the sensors can read my emissions fast enough to tell the cameras to take a picture Is there a cop standing near the van?

Ive been through one by I 10 and hwy6 awhile ago, it suprised me as I took the ramp but I knew exactly what it was. I accelerated a little and turned off the car and then turned it back to run to retain my steering and just coasted through it. I guess a cloud does stay behind your bumper (where ever the turbulant wind is maybe) but its probably far less than if the car was running. Didnt get a letter BTW

Another clue is that there will be short tripods on either side of the roadway, usually with orange cones to dunnul you between the sensors. Nail it, hit neutral, then key off. Restart after you go by. Make sure you don't leave the key in LOCKED position.
Unfortunately 6 minute tow is only on the freeway, but if I see one on an on or off ramp, I think I'll call 311 and have them send a wrecker. Hope I have a video camera handy, it should be funny.

i think this is aimed more at truckers and 1958 dump trucks turning 5k rpms to go 39mph clouding up the whole world.
i dont think it would be worthwhile for them to just go out and try and catch the .001% of cars that dont have cats installed because they are rebels like us

When I used to live in Houston I was almost rear-ended when I got caught in a traffic backup on 610. Turns out that they had one of those white vans on the ramp to 288 South from 610 east - this was causing the traffic to back up. I was so pissed off that I wrote a letter to the Chronicle, which actually got printed.
On another occasion, when I used to have the Camaro, I saw one of those damn vans on the entrance to on-ramp to 45 just north of NASA road one. I floored it and went by it at a bit over 100 mph - don't think it could get me when I was going that quick. They wanted to catch people in accelerating mode - I gave it exactly what it wanted

correct me if im wrong, but doesnt a (especially a cammed one) car run "dirtier" at idle than when under accel? There would be more pollution running above idle, but less concentrated than when at idle right?
The 1st one ive ever seen was @ Kingwood Drive Entrance ramp to the 59 feeder street about a week and 1/2 ago. FYI...also caught State Trooper on the Northpark over pass-clocking traffic on 59.

At lunch they had one of the rigs setup on the bellair on ramp to the 610 loop going clockwise (Hey, I'm directionally challenged!!) Guess it would be Northbound on the West loop. Was in the DD, but I still coasted thru, just on principle. Woulda called HPD, but it was in Bellaire.
