I thought my Opti was going out this week also...turns out it was the ignition module. Before you jump to conclusions and say your Opti crapped out, you might want to start some troubleshooting. I took apart everything and cleaned the Opti reinstalled it and all and got the same results, but then I took my aftermarket ignition coil and module out of the ignition and went back to stock, everything works great now. Although now something in my idle control is failing...probably just the IAC hung open because I don't idle lower than 1500 now. Sheesh.

ignition module and coil are about 4-5 months old, even if the distributer cap opens and closes while on the car? would that cause a bad mis fire and lazy start?

Mine had water in it and it had the same symptoms. I ran some air through the vent port and it fixed the problem, but I think yours is sealed so you will have to take it apart. Pull it off and take it apart anyway, you may be able to fix it w/o replacing it.
