need some tech help asap please
This only happend when I am in gear and let off the gas. If I push the clutch in or barely get on the gas the noise immedietly goes away.
Im thinking its either the tranny or something in the engine. Im going to check my fluids now and tell you how that goes but I wanted to get some info from you guys.
Maybe it was just that the engine was hot (normal temp on guage though), but I dont really want to drive it anymore without some info on what it could be. If theres any more info you need, I can tell you
Thanks
Kenny
I recently bought a MAC rear girdle to strengthen the rearend a little and when I had the cover off I looked at everything and it appeared to be ok. I replaced it with new fluid(royal purple) and put the new girdle on according to its directions. My pinion seal is leaking quite a bit but apparently everyone so it everybody elses. I recently added some more fluid to bring it back up to the top. (havent checked it yet since the problem started, about to...)
Do you think its my gears that are going bad, what is it that makes that noise? I drove it to pick up some new oil and it still makes the noise while engine braking, but not while cruising with the accelerator depressed a little bit
I got the car from carmax and got the extened warranty ( a separate independent company). there was no clear rules that they told me about what voids the warranty but Im sure if they saw the mods I have done they would try to deny the coverage. I can take it to any car shop to get work but they might send someone to check the car out before they pay for it.
any suggestions?

6. What kind of vehicles are NOT eligible?
The following vehicles are not eligible for the Vehicle Security Care plan: Commercial use; non-US specification (gray market); vehicles over 9 years old; vehicles with over 100,000 miles; parts modified from original equipment; vehicles with non-standard titles (lemon, salvage, etc). Certain restrictions apply to specific makes and models.

11. What do I do when I have a claim?
When you have a claim, you may take your vehicle to any licensed repair facility of your choice. Notify the shop that you have an Vehicle Security Care extended service plan. On your plan documents, you will have a toll free claim phone number. The shop will call the claim department when your vehicle arrives to begin the claim process. Once the problem is diagnosed, they will call for approval. When the work is done, they call the claim department a final time for payment. You can then pick up your car and will only have to pay the selected deductible.
If you're worried, you might want to try to swap as many as you can of the more obvious mods back to stock before taking it in.
I've seen people mention doing that. Trending Topics
Im going to pull the cover off my rear end and check it out tomorrow morning.
time for a poll,
what do you think about these two options:
1. take the car in and hope for the best (and if they want to deny it, try to argue that they never explained the "terms" before they sold me the warranty. Or try to raise hell and say if you arent going to honor my warranty then give me my money back)
2. take off my headers and put the stock stuff back on(requires going to muffler shop) and take it in then swap everything back out later (PITA x2!)
I have my stock rims/tires on now so it dosent look as "race like"
seems like a big company, and this is would be my first claim
Im thinking of option 1...
BTW thanks "tech apprentice"!

Just took the cover off and took some pics. They oil was put in maybe 1,000 miles ago and it seems pretty dark. I couldnt find any metal pieces or cracks when I looked around.
I ran a magnet through the oil and picked up a couple tiny metal pieces, but if I hold the oil pan at the right angle it kind of glitters like theres "metal dust" in there. The picture of the oil looks worse than it did normally (the flash probably makes the particles more visible)
I dont know much about rear ends, is this normal or a warning sign for failure?
please share any info/advice you can think of
