well for $700 dollars that aint going to get you far with an attorney, or at least from my experiences. The goods ones will charge you about 2-5K depending on ability.

I would be going after the cops badge and also would be going after the city, that is just plain bullshit, in my opinion.

Good luck bro

Whats the lesson here? Don't do a damn thing a "police officer" tells you to do unless they're in uniform.

If you were doing something wrong, wouldn't you feel like you might get in trouble & leave the area? If you were stopping wouldn't that action itself show that you didn't feel you were doing anything wrong at the time? Like mentioned above, start getting your strategy together. Also, while it's still fresh on your mind, write down in explicit detail what happened & what happened that morning & later that day. Not just that event. But be esepcially particular about the incident. I wish you luck, and if I were you, I wouldn't worry about the money, get it some how but get a good lawyer, having a record CAN come back to haunt you.

I think we are missing part of the story. I suspect you did something on the way to your buddies house that caused the officer to really be pissed off. He then stopped you when you were leaving your buddies house. The stop and arrest were perfectly legal. He identified himself verbally as a peace officer so it doesn't matter what he was wearing. You won't get any of your money back even if all charges are dropped. The only exception is you will get your bail money back if you or a family member posted it but only after the case is disposed of. The good news is that a decent attorney should be able to get you out of the charges. The fact that you stopped for the trooper goes in your favor. If you hadn't stopped, and he got your tag number, he would have gotten a warrant and arrested you at your home or at your school or work. This is going to be an expensive lesson about how to drive in residential areas. Learn from it and it will be money well spent. Good luck.......

Damn, I've heard of people getting busted by cops on bicycles, but getting pulled over by one on foot? Damn that sucks. Hopefully your lawyer can pull some tricks out of his bag.

al - Sent you a pm

Gold Z - That was the whole story I didnt do anything wrong on the way to my buddys house or anything. Only thing I did wrong comin back was running a stop sign and I was goin slow as hell through it cause when I looked both ways I seen the trooper in the middle of the road wavin his hands. What I cant believe is he had the nerve to tell the other officers that I almost hit him and he "feared" for his life....what kind of **** is that?

Sean Ws6 - Great advice ill keep that in mind

That was the part I am in the dark about......what happened to make him think you almost hit him when you were able to stop before you got to where he was standing. That's why I suspect it was something that happened on the way to your buddies house. Your attorney needs to pick up a copy of the troopers offense report to find out the exact reason the trooper arrested you, or to put it in police talk, what were the elements of the offense?

i'm still stuck on the 'excessive rate of speed' part. you have true duals? how the **** would you hear anything outside of the car w/the throttle anywhere near WOT w/true duals? also, like Gold Z said, how would you be able to stop before you supposedly 'hit him, fearing for his life' if you were at a high rate of speed? these cars aren't known for their extraordinary braking abilities....good as they are. just some things to have your lawyer think about.

That guy could've been a carjacker for all you know. You should've hauled *** outta there. What are they gonna say if you're stopped by a uniformed officer? "Hey kid, why didn't you stop when that complete stranger in street clothes asked you for your car?" Yeah, say that a few times out loud and see how it sounds.
You have to be aware of scams these days. Carjackers get tricky on you. Like two cars, one in front and one in back. The rear car bumps you just enough to make you get out to exchange insurance then the car in front has you boxed in. They all get out and you're lucky if they let you live after stealing your car.
