look into anywhere around Lake Houston, real nice new homes and even there is some lots/acreage for sale were you can built your own custom home... I have a few of my co-workers that live in that area and they like it, alot of tree's... if interested I have a friend that builts custom homes and he could built a nice place if you buy your piece of land....

I live in Corpus Christi, and yes the terrain is pretty much boring.
I would not consider moving any further down south, the further you go down.. its just a road, with fields on each side.. maybe a mesquite tree and some shrubs. Not very interesting at all.. just long flat land.

Houston seems like a very interesting and exciting city to live in, its nice to actually see dark green trees ..woods, etc. Houses are nice, the roads are smooth, etc. But one time some friends and myself were in Houston leaving MTI around 5:00.. geez traffic was pretty bad.

San Antonio seems pretty nice as well, SAR is a very nice track. Area is pretty spread out, good amount of traffic.. not as bad as HTOWN though. Hilly area, nice terrain etc.

Then you could also consider the surrounding areas such as Austin, Round Rock, San Marcos, etc.

All in all, you should take some time to do a Texas Road trip, If your looking for something to do or an expanding area with new developments and such, San Antonio is the furthest south youd wanna go.

If you want a break from all the traffic, easy going town with no congestion or the hassels of big city living, and the water next door, you may want to look into the corpus area.

Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone for the replies!

Well, we are going to be looking an hour north of where we live now.........homes aren't as crazy priced like Palm Beach is. So I will let you all know but for now, seems we are staying put here for now. If this home purchase goes our way, we can get a new one for under $220 or so, we're buying. My Man doesn't want to give up his job, can't blame him so.......for now TX is on hold. I am dying to get a change of scenery and get a wooded, shaded GREEN yard So maybe in about 2 yrs if we make enough money on this home (seeing FL prices go up about 25K+ a year)....then possibly we can buy a home outright in 2 yrs in TX and have a nice easy life and just mod and race our cars and just have to work for insurance benefits......wouldn't that be nice?

Thank you all so much for the info. I won't rule out I won't be out in TX to check it out and DEFINATELY hit the drag strip while I am there

After all the trouble that everyone went through and for nothing...just stay there and forget about TEXAS! Besides you would always be a visitor and never really a TEXAN

It has a low cost of living because they don't pay **** over there. The valley is nice for a vacation spot, but if I lived over there I'd have shot myself. It's too damn boring over there. I'm sure the natives over there will disagree, but I like my big city. Plenty of things to do over here. I go to the valley about twice a year because of family and I hate it. Just my 2 cents

Hey, I've already thanked everyone. If you have a problem with that TOO bad. Your right I will never be Texan or a redneck, or even a South Floridian...... however, I will always be a DAMN YANKEE.

One house of interest we're going to try to see Sat.

Just needs alittle landscaping of tropical foliage and a few live oaks in the front yard and a cozy home for both T/A's

Garage is too small. You need a bigger garage!! Or a detached garage. Then you can knock the back wall out and add another 25 feet to the back. That's what I did. Can park 4 cars on the ground, and one on the four post lift. And still room for more toys!!

Hey you first had to jump in and make a comment about others who gave me advice. YOU on the other hand didn't say a word this whole time about your forbidden land other than how I'd never be a Texan and I should stay where I am. You are correct, I would never be a Texan, I'd be a transplant like most of the transplants working for Fortune 500 companies that have brought ECONOMY to your State.

Guess you don't get out of town much, they'd chew you alive in the Northeast where I am from.

No, we don't have gun racks and Pitbulls, but Florida does.

I'm from weslaco, Nice quiet place to live, the track is about 30 min away. The valley is the fastest growing metropolitan arean in the country. and it's cheap. there is good fishing, nice beach, nightlife is probably not as good as florida's but houston and San Antonio are a couple hours away. overall the "RGV" is not a bad place to live

Hey Eddie, thanks for the info. I will be down to see it someday and the reason if and when we move to Texas in the future the northeast end will be it. I love the older colonial looking estate type homes. And I miss the tall pines and oak trees I had in the Northeast of New England......quiet and like my old roots but with no snow and GREAT tracks to run my car on.

Where do your stats come from? Talk about a state that relies on others for their economy...Florida is nothing but tourism.

BTW, I never bad mouthed Texas.....your own little mind made that one up.
Never?

Why do you have to go to the "redneck" card?

Guess you don't get out of town much, they'd chew you alive in the Northeast where I am from.
What do you know about my travels? Uncle Sam has taken me to quite a few places around this country and around the world. I've seen things & people that you could not even imagine. I've always been thankful to be able to return home to TEXAS.

No, we don't have gun racks and Pitbulls, but Florida does.
no gun racks or pitbulls here.

late...

Don't like my attitude? Then get out of my thread.

I'm married to a native Texan, so you just need to STFU and quit with the prejudice crap. This ain't the 1800's. I wasn't bad mouthing Texans, JUST YOU!! California has the same attitude towards people invading their state, so that's why I said you'd fit in well out there.
