Default Need to get a cell, which wireless company?

I used to have Sprint a couple years back, but it seemed like every month they were trying to stick me for overage charges. I would limit myself to using the phone during the day and made sure that I wasn't using too much of my daytime/anytime minutes, yet, I would still go over. I felt that they were screwing me over trying to get money out of me. Well I quit paying them and said the hell with Sprint. Now its been a while, they may have something better to offer and just maybe they have stopped screwing people because I've had people tell me the same thing about Sprint. Anyhow, enough about my situation, which wireless company do you think I should go with? Here are some of the things I'm looking for:

Nation wide calls
Decent amount of anytime minutes
Either free/unlimited weekends or lots of weekend minutes
Call waiting
Caller ID w/call waiting caller ID
Voicemail
Roll over would be nice, but not a necessity
and most importantly, good coverage.

I would assume the more towers, the better coverage. I hate dropped calls, bad service where I cant here the person or they cant hear me, etc. I'm not looking to spend too much a month on a service. I'm thinking $50 or less. I cetainly dont want to go through the hassle with the company trying to screw me over with going over my minutes. Main thing I'm looking for is good customer service, excellent coverage, lots of anytime minutes for a good rate, unlimited or lots of weekend minutes, and a plan that I dont spend over $50 for. Who do you suggest I go through? Thanks.

I used to have Sprint, dropped them like a dropped call, their service in the store was lacking as well. They seem to have the coolest phones. I switched to verizon and havent had anywhere near the problems that i had with sprint. Just my .02.

My contract is with AT&T, and like 1Gen said....I havnt had any problems....Ive drove from Cali to MD and had coverage the whole time. I was even using a Mexico tower for about an hour, and they didnt charge for roaming. I got mine shortly after I got back from Iraq and AT&T was running STUPID...and I mean S T U P I D discounts for the Military guys...so I really got a deal on mine, and Im sorta grandfathered in so Im not really paying much either That may not apply to you, but as far as others that look at the post.... Im sure that there is still some sort of discount for the military guys, but I dont know if they are still running the really good ones that they WERE.

just my .02

I work at Best Buy Copperfield, in the cell phones. Cingular is the way to go. We sell verizon (which is best for coverage only), sprint(best for phones) also. Cingular has great coverage, phones and complete package, and less customers complaints! Being 100% honest. If you live anywhere near my store, ill hook ya up.

(By the way, we dont work on commision, like the actual stores!)

Cingular. I actually started with Houston Cingular in 85, the got bought by Cingular. 1st phone, the contract was a mimeographed piece of paper, and they sent a guy to where I was working to install the phone in my vehicle!!

We have 4 phones with them, and really can't complain. A lot of the service problems are individuals at the stores, so if you find a good person to deal with, always go back to them.

We have an 850 plan, has all of the features mentioned in the earliers post, including Rollover, and text messaging on two of the phones.

I would recommend talking to CamaroDave98 at Best Buy. I don't know him personally, but he must be good since he is an LS1Tech member. (That says a lot about his character )

Ive had Sprint, verizon, and now T-mobile. I would have to say tmobile is by far the best one I have had yet! Sprint was expensive, nice phones though.SPrint didnt even work in my house at all. Verizon wanted to stick it to me all the time with extra charges. They also had horrible customer service. Tmobile is great! Good reception everywhere I have been no roaming charges change my plan anytime and not have to renue contract. Im sticking with Tmobile for a while. Just my .02

I have AT&T/Cingular & haven't had any problems other than not getting included internet time/or checking the price before playing with it at work. I ran up a big bill goofing off on WAP internet but it was my fault. But I have a Sony Erricson camera phone (the newer one) with bluetooth & it rocks. I would stay away from flip phones, they are easier to break.

Get T-Mobile. For 49.99 I got 3000 minutes. That's 50 hours. However, it's not a national plan. It only covers you in Teaxas and Louisiana. Any other state is like 35 cents a minute.

You have only had the phone for 1 month? Did you damage it, or has it been damaged? You have 1 year manufacture warranty through motorola if there is no sign of physical damage, pm me for more info. By the way the v220 is one of the lowest ranked motorola phones compared to the razr, v600, v551. Cingular only has 30 day return, other than that you would have needed the insurance 3.99/month

-And to the people praising T-mobile....do you leave texas? I know some people have no coverage problems, although, I have customers everyday come in and complain about having no service in many parts of texas as well as all over the U.S. There is a reason their plans are so cheap, cheap service, IMO!

No one can touch cingulars price w/ rollover mins, and still have the same coverage.

I think I might go with Cingular. There's a Cingular store about 5 mins. from me. I asked a few of my buddies what company they used and everyone of them said Cingular. I know for sure that I wont be using Sprint. Is there any particular model or brand of phones that I should stay away from? Now I just have to decide on a phone, any suggestions? This is what I want in the phone:

Camera
Color screen
Phonebook w/lots of storage
Calculator
Speaker phone
AIM compatible
Text messaging capable
Downloadable games
Downloadable ringtones, music ringtones, etc.
Downloadable pictures

go with the V551, it's a great thing that all your buddies have cingular because with the in network thing you wont pay to call them in the middle of the day

Cingular and Verizon are the 2 companies I'm torn between. If I go with Cingular, I'm thinking of getting the $49.99 plan with the $7 for nights to start at 7 pm instead of 9 pm and possibly the 50 text/instant messages for $2.99. If I go with Verizon, I'll have to go with the $59.99 plan as they dont have a $49.99 one. I like the fact that Cingular has AIM and the option of paying $7 for your nights to start at 7 rather than 9.
