Yeah, shoot, I work over in Galveston and heard and very much felt the explosion way over here. It felt like my building was collapsiing. Went outside and saw the dark mushroom cloud. Pretty wicked stuff. I hope that there aren't any of the guys from the site here that work out there. I have heard of 4 fatalities, and about 10 trapped in a building out there. There were transporting injurded folks to the hospital here in Galveston.

No there are not 100 people in the hospital...there are approx 30 at Mainland, and UTMB down here is off the hook I would say about another 30 in the last 2 hours. UTMB is taking in the more serious stuff, but they are not even close to 100. It shook the hell out of our building too. Crazy stuff.

I was watching the news and saw them pull one guy out of the rubble and he was moving. What a disaster. They were still saying no injuries reported, but I am not buying that.

I just got back from there. (our plant's emergency reponse team went to help). It is really bad over there.

I can't believe someone would make a comment about gas prices, when there are so many hurt and killed over there!

I work over at Choc Bayou BP Amoco on HWY 3004. Texas city is our brother plant. Right now everything is just about the employees families. Some have been touch very deeply. We have been very blessed where I work. We have had some major fires and no one has ever got hurt. It`s been a blessing. This is why we make the money we do. It is very dangerous work. God Bless them all.

Why the heck does that even matter? Sorry if that sounds a little harsh, but who cares whether they were contractors or direct?

Because they ARE some people on this site like Toxic Texan that work there. Thats what matters to us right now, people that we know that might be hurt/dead vs. nobody that we know. You get the point?

Peace,
Craig.

Ross, that is not what it meant. I was just letting him know if his buddy worked for BP, that he was probably okay. I`ve worked in plants for 15 years as a contractor and now company. I have good friends that are contractors. I treat them all with respect. If you had a problem with what I said, you should have used differant words to say it. If you read his reply you would have understood what i was writing about.

Sorry man. I now understand what message you were trying to get across. Maybe you should have worded it differently as well. I didn't mean to attack you, but I have seen how contractors can be treated (as if they aren't equal). I have been a contractor, and so has my dad.
If I offended you, again...sorry.
I'm praying for your fellow co-workers.
